I am in desperate need of help. I'm currently experiencing bad heartburn as my pregnancy is gettin closer to the end. Any good remedies to help me get thru it?

Ohhhh myyy goodnesss you're pregnant! If it's a girl name her Samantha!!!

I love that name!

And baby girl at this point it's just how it is. Drink lots of water, heartburn and acid reflux at this point of it is just part of the deal. Is this your first? I've been through 6 and miscarried 1. Had real bad heartburn with like 3 of them but had it with all of them.

keep away from Soda, caffeine, citrus, chocolate, anything processed lol

Everything you got a craving for basically lol.

don't eat close to bedtime.....Drink water. Water and eating lots of fruits and veggies were really the only things that gave me relief. I don't take man made meds like that So i can't vouch for any of those. I just really say avoid it altogether.

My wife when she was pregnant and had it, she chewed gum. Try that.

Thanks ladies. Yea pretty much everything I crave gives me heartburn lol... Water is pretty much all I drink. I can truly say that I avoid caffeine :) The citrus part is a killer though cause I love eating oranges and boy o boy are those nothin but citrus lol...

And yes its a girl. We're naming her Amaya.

Eat pineapples. I'm telling you I had it BAD with my first one, I thought I was having night sickness instead of morning sickness because I wanted to throw up every night round 10. ON THE DOT.

Watched a Japanese drama about food and the detective said eat pineapples for heartburn, (good show by the way). Haven't turned back on it since.

Acidopholous or even better megadopholous. Health food or vitamin store.

Congrats on your daughter !!!!

Sorry but I don't have any remedies lol .. But I do enjoy pineapples lol

I'm definitely gonna try pineapples. I was just telling the hubby that I was going to the store on Friday to get some fruit. And yea I definitely had night sickness lol...

We both really loved the name Amaya..

awww congrats! Amaya is a beautiful name. A friend of mine has twin girls named Amaya & Alivia.

I am a twin...I would love to have twins next..and call it a wrap LOL.

I had bad heartburn at the end as well, seltzer water worked for me...and I also had to sleep kinda of upright :smh: ...good luck HoneyDip!

Not a lady but in chiropractic school try Baking soda and some water

I very rarely take anything over the counter (don't need to), but I do have a fondness for good old fashioned alka seltzer. My dad got me hooked as a kid because I loved to see the tablets fizz. Go figure it is nothing but baking soda, water, and sometimes aspirin. It works faster than anything for an upset stomach.

Pineapple is a good suggestion and I know some people have had success with papaya also (the papain). :)

Amaya is pretty name!

Aw @ the twins part. I used to ask my momma all the time to give me a twin sister, lol.

About the sleeping upright part, I had the most horrible time with sleep with both my girls. One time I stayed up for three days just because I didn't want to lay down. Come to find out she was sitting on a nerve in my leg. With my second child she was sitting on a nerve on the other leg but it wasn't that bad...no cure for that though cause pillows between your knees does not help :(

Amaya is a pretty name.(not as pretty as Samantha) But still beautiful!

jk

So how did it work out for ya? Did you try anything?

This here.

Interesting how the thing I posted that actually works miracles got totally ignored. Its called acidopholous.

Congrats HoneyD!

Thanks. And there are some nights that I do fall asleep sitting up and wake up with no heartburn. So I think I might try that a lil more often.

Did try some seltzer water but trying to drink it is the hard part. I've never really been one to like plain seltzer water lol

Im a lil scared to do the alka seltzer only because of the aspirin aspect of it. My doctors keep telling me not to take anything that contains aspirin or its ingredients while Im pregnant.

:D

Yea I was supposed to be a twin too but my brother died while in the womb still. So when I was born I had a big cist over my right eye. It was his sac. They had to keep me in the hospital to run test to make sure it wasn't effecting my health. When I was about 6 weeks they did surgery to remove it. My hubby really kept sayin we were gonna have twins. And when we went to our first few appts he kept askin the docs if they were sure it was only one baby lol...

also congrats on the baby
Thanks

There's a number of products available that are now over the counter to relieve you of heartburn. Since your pregnant you need to check with your doctor before trying anything.

But here's a few suggestions. Watch your diet and try not to eat late at night and nothing greasy or fried. If you must snack try dry foods like crackers. Milk and ice cream are actually old time favorites of heartburn and ulcer sufferers.

As for medicines Prilosec, Nexium, Pepcid AC, and GNC carries acidophilus. But again touch base with your doctor before you try anything.

Good luck with your pregnancy.

Agreed Honey D. You would have to search for the Alka Seltzer version sans aspirin (I think they call it Alka Seltzer Gold?) but if you are also having trouble with your blood pressure you may want to avoid it all together since it is primarily sodium bicarbonate.
I can never find the one without aspirin smh.

You have a lot of other suggestions and sleeping up a little bit can definitely work. My mother did it when she went on a trip and got too happy at the buffet table.

Aw! :(

I'm learning sometimes these medical cats think it be twins but it's really just your body / baby playing tricks. Nurse listening to the heartbeat and poking around "I think you're gonna have twins!", I got a freaking diva Gemini :hmm:.

They call that stuff "pop' in the mid west.

Coke down here in the south.

*runs

That's too much energy for me.
