Robber Dies After Pulling Gun on Armed Store Clerk – Family Outraged the Clerk Defended Himself

A Dayton, Ohio man allegedly attempted to stick up a Dollar General and was shot to death by a store clerk. His family is outraged.

Roosevelt Rappley, 23, died Wednesday evening after allegedly drawing his gun inside a Dollar General and demanding money from employees, WHIO reported.

Police said witnesses told them Rappley brandished a firearm and pointed it at employees.

Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger told WHIO Rappley was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a police dispatch call released last week, the worker who fatally shot Rappley described the incident.

“I just had somebody try to attempt and rob me over here at Dollar General on Gettysburg,” the clerk said. “Came in with a firearm, threatened to take money out the drawer, pointed a gun at me and my staff members.”

“He pointed a gun at me, I had a firearm on me, I pulled my firearm and I shot him in self-defense,” the caller added.

Dayton police Sgt. Thomas Schloss told WHIO Rappley walked outside after being shot and collapsed.

According to police, the Dollar Store employee was legally permitted to carry a gun.

“Yes, he’s robbing y’all. Oh well.”

In an interview with WHIO, two of Rappley’s relatives spoke out against what they characterize as an unjust killing.

“[You shouldn’t have] took matters in your own hands and brought a gun to work for safety,” Rappley’s sister, Rashell, told the local outlet.

While conceding their younger brother – the second of their ten siblings to be killed by gunfire – shouldn’t have tried to rob the store, Rappley’s relatives say the punishment didn’t fit the crime.

“At the end of the day, that’s not right,” Rashell said.

“He’s got some responsibility, but not all,” she told WHIO in reference to how much blame her brother bears for his own death.

“Yes, he’s robbing y’all. Oh well. Call the police. That’s what you’re supposed to do. You’re not supposed to take matters into your own hands,” Rashell added. “If that’s the case, I’ll take matters into my own hands.”

No,she dont have a point. Her brother would be alive,if he didn't try to rob the store.

How can someone go on TV and say their brother has some responsibility when it's 100% their fault.

It's like folks want to blame everyone else but the perpetrator. He tried to rob a store and the consequences was his life...nothing complicated about this case.

Both of her siblings look like hood trash... why are some always looking right past why he got killed ..... would they have had sympathy to match their outrage that they're showing if he would've shot and killed the old man ? Fuck both of their asses .... I bet that they'd light a bunch of fucking candles in front of the store too ... I'd piss on them ....
Loud mouth whore is an embarrassment
If she loved her sibling so much … maybe she should've been making sure that he wasn't out committing armed robbery

Saw this first on Facebook I believe and whether you agree with her loud mouth ass she has a point...

The news said that was the third different Dayton Dollar General to be robbed THIS MONTH and that was the fourth time this year an armed robber stuck up this particular one. I've never been inside that chain... what is it about Dollar Generals that make them such magnets for hood armed robberies?
:scared:

That clerk needs a bonus!! My female cousin manages a Dollar Tree and at night no fucks are given. Crazy people come, thieves come, people fight in the store and the cops don't even come by. She is legally packing although its against store policy to be armed, but she has had to pull it before. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Funny how these store policies want the managers to take the money to the bank "Unarmed" at night after the store closes, yet wants them not to be able to defend themselves. Fuck all robbers. Get a fucking job or a better hustle. She's got kids and bills and all she wants to do is go home at night which I am sure this clerk wanted to do. Lowlives like this don't deserve to procreate.

Is there a particular reason why you tagged us in this?

Because Dollar Generals are strategically placed in economically depressed areas.

Poor people are more likely to use cash due to issues with access to the banking system.

As much as I agree with you, if the clerk was black, robber white, that clerk would be jailed under her train of thought.

Because DGs are cheaper and people have been getting poorer. DGs are going into groceries as well.

Does your employer allow you to conceal carry while working? Can you even have a gun on their premises? What about state policy, does the state allow conceal carry on an employers property? What's Dollar General's policy on it? Do they allow conceal carry while on the clock? What about even having a gun on your person while on their premises?

Those places are insured for events like that.

My ex worked at Walgreens for almost a year. They had SPECIFIC instructions not to engage anyone committing a crime. If they came in and shoplifted they weren't even allowed to follow them to the door. One ast mgr followed a shoplifter outside to to write down a license plate and upon giving that info to the cops and store manager she was fired ON THE SPOT.

Y'all only seeing the ignorance of the young lady a and the brother's poor choice. You're not looking at it from a business standpoint. They could possibly be held liable for that young man's death.

What about when the robber don't give a fuck about killing a clerk, yet that clerk has a concealed weapon?? Should they not defend themselves??? I won't put my life in the hands of the next man. If you have a gun and I have a gun and you are attempting to use your weapon against me....Sheeeet only one of us would walk away and hope it is me.

Because they have the nerve to run their stores like normal businesses without bulletproof glass. Sad how they expose those workers and have them doing everything in the fucking stores. Cashier, stock, manager, and fucking security all for $9/hr.

Again, you're looking at things from YOUR perspective.

I'm not saying you're wrong. I actually agree with y'all. Play stupid games win stupid prizes. The brother was a dumbass.

But again, look at things from a business perspective. There's too many possible violations there and not only will Dollar General distance themselves as far as humanly possible from this case they will likely give them some "shut up" money.

And you failed to answer any of my questions.

She didn't do herself any favors with that interview

Her facebook is starting to get lit

Emad Baddour Type of h*e to suck you off soon as you meet her stank azz .
I hope your stank azz run up in the store next so you can get filled with hot ones and then Go rest in piss w/ your lame, busted, broke azz brother.

Maliss Bumselt Maybe if your bitch ass brother had a job instead of robbing dollar stores he wouldn't be a dead bitch
