OH BOY! Beyonce VS Kelis!!.....no, like really, Kelis is accusing Bey of sampling her without her permission.

Now Kelis and Pharrell have been taken off of the song....

Kelis just messed up the money. She has made new enemies.

And for the record, it was an interpolation not a sample.

Beyonce did it the right way, none of that back and forth, I didn't have to do this or that, just took her off the song. @Tito_Jackson when I listened to the song I couldn't even tell it was sampled from Kelis song and I don't think most other people would have either

yep.. why bother with the bullshit. she got the money and power and did the quick and easy. they lose shine and potential $$, not beyonce. That's how you handle shit. Do it and keep moving. The album is still going to sell the same amount of units. and I don't even fucking like beyonce or her husband. i think both their music is garbage.

According to one article I read the "interpolation" came in the final seconds of the record where Bey sang a variation of the "La-la-lala-la"s that are signature of "Milkshake."

Kind of like how Bruno Mars had to credit Trinidad James for "Don't believe me, just watch."

I haven't heard anything from her album, so I cannot comment

No no no *
Just because you can legally screw someone over doesn't mean you should, its unethical

Or petty....in which case "I'll allow it!"

Kelis has trashed Bey publicly on numerous occasions.....why should Bey be "courteous" to her?

Kelis looks like the victim here, Beyonce and her producers look like the bad guys , dishonorable

Oh ok, I listened to the song and thought they had sampled the beat and/or hook from "Milkshake“, I don't think I listened to the whole song though, let me go check it out

KELIS HAS NO LEGAL RIGHT TO THE SONG.

If she got fucked out of publishing/ credits for that song her beef is with Pharrell and Chad NOT Beyonce.

Beyonce had no artistic, moral or legal obligation to contact her. She contacted all parties that were credited with the song. But she did also add Kelis to the credits even though she didn't have to.

Kelis is changing the narrative of the conversation. The headlines are Kelis vs Beyonce because she knows of it was Kelis vs Pharrell she wouldn't have any attention or public interest in it. She is no one's victim and has insinuated in tweets her target was Pharrell.....

She is a literal example of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

doesn't matter that her name was put on if she's not gonna get a check. Dave Chappelle's name is all over his comedy show in the 00s but he wasn't getting a check from HBO or Netflix for running the shows based on a contract he signed on good faith for whatever reason that cut him out of the deal. Netflix had no artistic, moral or legal obligation to honor dave's issue but they did. And under pressure of a negative look so did HBO.

Why is it when (black) men make moves to stand up for themselves or call shit out its seen a good thing but (black) women do the same thing its shamed and viewed negatively??

She didn't legally screw her. She used the beat, not her voice.

Kelis owns her voice, but the producers own the sample.

Beyonce adding Kellis name with a writing credit would have gotten her a check from Beyonce's song and residuals.

Her mouth and reckless unfounded accusations got her removed.

So now she continues to get nothing, the same nothing she gets from Milkshake.

Beyonce was doing her a favor.

Just shows she doesn't understand business and that is why she got nothing from Milkshake

My understanding is that kelis is credited as an associated performer

Despite removing the sample and the credit for Kelis as an “associated performer” on the album, Beyoncé and Pharrell have yet to comment on her accusations directly.

That's not a writing credit and it's not clear what compensation comes with that....if any.

I stand corrected but in any event, Beyonce owed her nothing as she is not the publisher or the writer of the original and as such had nothing coming of its use.

This was her attempt to be relevant by attaching her name to the Beyonce album after seeing how the connection renewed interest in Robin S who similarly was not the owner of her hit " Show Me Love"
