If they want to mortgage the house on another aging star, then go ahead... that'll pretty much guarantee we stay in the lottery in one of the best draft classes from the last 15 to 20 years

Those stars need to market themselves and create stories that gets the public engaged. Just like everyone else before them did. Foreign players play ball then go home. Good luck getting fans engaged with that. Bron has done movies, appeared in rap videos, at other sporting events, etc. When are the new guys gonna do that? It's more than just playing basketball.
The Lakers are a 5th seed and Bron has never missed a playoff game. I'm confident they will carry the discourse until they are eliminated then folks will tune out like they've been doing the last 5 years. We used to discuss past Finals ad nauseum, but no Finals of the last 5 years ever gets disected in here because they are forgettable and aren't part of a legacy or story. Nobody cares.
When Bron does retire, there will be a YEAR LONG farewell tour and massive coverage that will overshadow regular season teams even worse than this season. Like that is going to happen. 20 years from now nobody is gonna be complaining we didn't get to see more Ja Morant or Jared McCain over LeBron James in his final years of basketball. It'd be one thing if guys were washed, but they aren't AND the Olympics of this past summer showed that they are still the biggest draws in the sport. The NBA season starts and now we gotta pretend Chet and SGA are a bigger deal than Bron.
Cavs don't have any prominent white stars or light skins that shoot 3s a lot, so you gone have to promote them in here all year. None of the peanut gallery will be bigging up Donovan or Darius since they're not easily used as a troll mechanism. It's sad my G. If the Spurs had yalls record, they'd be glazing Wemby like crazy.
