Good discussion on his book, with some parts ripped from COINTELPRO. Raised some good points about the reforms that were enacted. Eventually they will be repealed down the road, once the public's memory fades, causing another crisis since the institution of power have money. There is also a discussion that many countries are moving to cooperative enterprises to produce goods and services.

The threat of Communism and Socialism, allowed the government to tax the rich at proposed rate of 100 percent, than it was dropped to 94%. These economic systems allowed the passage of Social Security and Unemployment Insurance. Rather than let the country switch to hardcore communism or socialism, the ruling elite compromised with these social programs to keep their institutions intact. People during the Depression weren't tolerating Capitalist dogma with hunger pains.
The government also stepped in and took the responsibility of providing work rather than cutting checks and relying on the private sector.
