"There will be physical response against the steps imposed by the United States, militarily. It is no longer the 19th century which...maintained the gunboat diplomacy," said Ri Tong Il, spokesman for the North Korean delegation at regional security talks in Hanoi.

Ri Tong Il, an official with North Korea’s delegation to the Asean Security Forum, told reporters in Hanoi today that the regime is prepared to make a physical response to joint U.S.- South Korean military drills that start July 25.

“There will be physical response against the steps imposed by the United States militarily,” Ri Tong Il, an official with North Korea’s delegation to the Asean Security Forum, told reporters in Hanoi today. The maneuvers, which involve 20 vessels and 200 aircraft, pose a threat to the country’s sovereignty and security, Ri said.

“Who are they telling to apologize when the truth of the incident hasn’t come to light,” Ri said. “If anyone should apologize, it should be South Korea, responsible for driving the situation on the Korean peninsula to the brink of an explosion.”

South Korea and the United States have agreed to stage a series of joint naval and air drills starting next week, the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Seoul said Tuesday. The first joint exercise involving the U.S. aircraft carrier USS George Washington will come July 25 in waters off the east coast of the Korean Peninsula. (Xinhua/Ren Zhenglai)

..The new U.S. sanctions target North Korea's ruling elite... A North Korean diplomat said the sanctions and plans for U.S. and South Korean large-scale joint military drills would be met with a "physical response."

"There will be physical response to the steps imposed by the United States militarily," Ri Tong-il, a member of Pyongyang's delegation at the security forum, told reporters. The military drills, he said, violated North Korean sovereignty.

"physical response".....what do you think - bluffing or not bluffing - do you think N. Korea will respond this weekend

keep in mind N.K. is using vague terms, pretty sure on purpose

or maybe N.Korean navy will actually pop off a few warning rounds this weekend, you never know

shits probably more about them them freezing a bunch of bank accounts alledgedly belonging to Kim

Bluff. Considering they've been getting on the bad side of China lately, N. Korea definitely doesn't want to get into anything serious with S. Korea or the US.

Here we go with another one of these threads :smh:. So whats the date it should take place & a what date can we write it off as a bluff??

NK has been threatening this bullshit for years. Maybe they should actually do something just once so people start taking them seriously again.

Of course if they go that route, we will just Nuke them. I know they are hurting for electricity but I don't think they want that much power dumped on them at one time.

Considering S. Korea's response to them torpedoing one of their ships, they....oh, wait, there was no response.

 they just rattling these again LOL

The U.S. postponed these maneuvers a while back with no reason for doing so. I'd assume that they will have to proceed with it.
I'd assume that the koreans are bluffing, but I don't think that the korean leadership is "sane" and anything can be expected. Especially in light of the fact that they were able to torpedo a s. korean military vessel and NOTHING was done about it. Any provocation would have to be met immediately with retalliation from the U.S. (they'd have no choice)
However the Korean standing army the last time I heard was around a million. They also realize that the U.S. is totally consumed with two wars and a budget deficit, so they realize an opportunity here.
This will be very interesting.

Interesting as North Korea and Iran are the only two countries in the world that haven't signed on to ban nuclear weapons and basically the US have already made it clear that "if you pull some dumb shit" anything goes. North Korea already fired the first shot with the torpedo sinking of a South Korean ship without a response, I wonder what's their plan here. Let's see here this goes.

This shit is crazy I just talked to my boy in Korea and he said he knew nothing about this and we're military

:hmm: glad those orders to South Korea got cancelled

Now you know that isn't going to save you from anything which is why you have to have your bags packed and ready to go always. Back when I was in the Air Force, orders to Korea were well sought over since it was a non-deployable zone. Now it is looking like Iraq and Afghanistan are going to be the spots to be at if your ass doesn't want to be involved in a Korean conflict. If cats think Iraq and Afghanistan are brutal they aren't ready for this North Korean war. We got our asses mopped the first time...who knows how it will turn out this time.

You mean like sinking a South Korean ship(Killing 40+ Citizens) without any repercussions?

North Korea Vows 'Retaliatory Sacred War' To U.S. Military Exercises

On Saturday, North Korea's powerful National Defense Commission – headed by leader Kim Jong Il – backed that threat up by promising a "retaliatory sacred war" against South Korea and the U.S. for what it called a second "unpardonable" provocation after wrongly accusing the North in the Cheonan incident.

That's not a good look for NK. The last same the US wasn't ready for continuing a war and needed something efficient, they okayed the atom bomb. :smh:

physical response=suicide

I'm saying these cats just arrived to the Nuclear age two years ago we have been there for sixty plus years...

They have a long history of making threats... Ask Japan about our history, not saying I'm proud of it but them cats should know better by now

He just bumping his gums cause he know what he got has little to no chance of reaching the US Mainland, and I'm sure they realize the us will park six subs off the coast line and play target practice with their country

Cant put a date on it but I believe something is bound to happen sooner or later. Especially given the fact the Bush said about a decade ago that Iran, Iraq and North Korea were the "axis of evil." It was like he was saying straight up, these are the countries that we are going to go to war with. Seems like war plans were already drawn up by the time he took office.

There was too much talk about slashing the DOD budget which would hurt the profits of many corporations, they had to provoke another country to justify their expenditures.

If North Korea tried some exercise new California or Oregon, they would be doing the same thing, threatening war.
