After his first meeting with Newark mayor-elect Ras Baraka, New Jersey governor Chris Christie referred to him as “a hostile guy,” reports NJ.com.

Overall, Christie said they had a “really friendly meeting,” but also described Baraka as a “kind of hostile guy.”

“I think he expressed hostility about a lot of things and people during that campaign,” Christie said. “But fortunately the campaign is over. So when we met yesterday, that was my one bit of advice I gave him. I said ‘you know, campaigning is different from governing, so it’s time to govern now. ‘“

And Christie said he was willing to help Newark’s newly elected mayor.

“It’s time to govern now. You want to work with me, I’m happy to work with you. If you don’t, it’s your call, too,” he said.

DiVincenzo said Baraka called Christie to set up the meeting, and Christie asked [County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr.] to be a part of it. Baraka also met with former Newark mayor and U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) on Sunday.

On Thursday, New Jersey GOP Gov. Chris Christie held a press conference to address allegations that his appointees orchestrated a dangerous traffic jam for political revenge. Christie maintained that he was deceived by a member of his "circle of trust" and noted that he had fired his deputy chief of staff, Bridget Anne Kelly, who was implicated in the scandal. He insisted that he had not known that Kelly ordered the traffic problems until the news broke on Wednesday. But many commentators have wondered if this whole episode—whether Christie was in the know or not—has bolstered the view that Christie is a bully.

Christie took issue with this characterization at the press conference. He asserted, "I am who I am. But I am not a bully…The tone that we've set here [is] that I'm willing to compromise." But those who have been the targets of Christie's wrath disagree. Of course Goomba Christie thinks Mayor Ras Baraka is "hostile". Ras is not the usual politico that Goomba Christie is used to dealing with. Most politicians at Ras's level can be wowed with a few trinkets that a State Governor can hand out. 50 yard line seats or 'private box' seats for a NFL game, plane rides on a political $$$$$$ donors Gulfstream private jet, fully equipped with booze, drugs, and $5,000 whores prepared to make one a member of the '5 miles high club'

Ras is a "real" grass roots, community oriented politician.

He is not a $$$$$$ purchased, corporate controlled democratic party politician like his predecessor Cory Booker.
The New Jersey Democratic Political Establishment put almost $4,000,000 ($4 Million) dollars into his opponents campaign, primarily on television commercials, trying to defeat him in the mayoral contest. People associated with his opponent firebombed Ras's campaign bus. Ras did NO television commercials; didn't have to, the people in Newark know who he is. The test for Ras is how does he interface with the corporate Democrats who have brought in $$$$$$$$$ to revitalize downtown Newark and simultaneously ignored the rest of the city in terms of development, jobs, education, et al.
Why were establishment corporate Democrats and the business community so leery about Ras????
