Samsung will not be getting my money.. I will just keep the Nexus 1 until they let HTC make something else..

They rarely update them, but often promise that they will. But most Android phones have a similar problem imho.

This won't be Samsung's phone. It will be Googles, manufactured by Samsung.

So with that, you get all the cool priority updates by having a Google phone.

If it's a HSPA+ device, I may have to leave Sprint for it..

Cant cosign this one... the evo has gotten a ton of updates. Yet, Samsung hasnt even pushed out froyo for their phones yet nor have they fixed the gps cache issue. The thing is with updates, once the update is pushed from the manufacturer it then has to go to the service provider to put their "touches" on it. This is why the nexus always gets updates first because its just vanilla android.. no htc sense and no touchwiz.

When gingerbread comes out itll still have to go to sprint for them to add all of their crapware before its officially released to us. Of course there will be a rom available long before Sprint puts out the official one.

I did say most. Samsung probably won't. Motorola has been iffy. Sony Ericsson has been totally behind. If Google had spent time on the UI at first instead of leaving it up to the device makers it probably would be a lot easier.

If that's the case, I'll definitely be all over this! I missed the Nexus One boat. Didn't really understand all that it was about until it had stopped production and the prices skyrocketed.

HSPA+ -- i'm ready to go!
Google branded means all the updates first and a dev phone!

yes sir! The Nexus turned into an incredible phone, definitely got my money's worth and more!

As someone already stated all ya'll worried about updates, lol, we get updates from Google, fk it we get updates from XDA, lol. The rom I have already has pieces of gingerbread running smoothly! To all the unrooted N1 cats I assure you, you don't know the features your missing.

On to the new, this new Nexus i'm hearing about....I seriously doubt its going to have a 4.5 inch screen but if it does!!! O My! But, i'm happy with 4.0 and up, I don't worry about a screen being too large because I talk with my bluetooth. The larger the screen the better for me, but a 4.0 will satisfy me. I hope this device is really coming out and that it'll be available on tmobile. I paid cash for my Nexus with no contract. I currently get unlimited everything and my bill comes to around $83 a month. That's with hspa+ we got hspa+ a few months ago when a new radio was dropped on xda for the Nexus. But, I hope this new Nexus is coming out!

On a sidenote, Tmo is reportedly having a blockbuster sale on November 24th bet i think it will be on the 26th if they have it. Many are suggesting they'll have all in store phones for free with a 2 year contract. Some others are suggesting if you get a 2 year contract you'll get a free phone of your choice with the phone you purchase. I enjoy not being under contract but if they have another sale like the Father's Day sale, it would be tempting not to get that contract get a free phone, sell the btch on craigslist and keep talking on my Nexus. That's if this sale doesn't require a family plan.

tmo news first reported it would be on the 20th of November then they said it had been canceled but some one close to tmo is saying they hired extra staff for the 24th. Friday after Thanksgiving (November 26) sounds a little more logical to me. I usually don't buy into these rumors but tmonews has been pretty reliable and tmo has had a couple of big sales in the past year so I believe they'll have another one soon. But, my eyes are on the prize! The new Nexus! Gotta have it, even if the specs aren't as grand as many sites are reporting. The fact of having a developers phone and not waiting on carriers is enough for me. The new Nexus like most smart phones will have a few bugs in the beginning but the main shyt if its software related will get ironed out within a month. Remember the Nexus One was initially getting drowned online for 3g and multimedia problems, that shyt got ironed out real quick, though Google never accepted responsibility my issues went away with the first update, but some credit xda for the fixes.

I got Froyo on my SGS. that's the thing about Android, you don't have to sit around and wait for the manufacturer to update it.

My Vibrant has a ridiculous amount support from XDA. Out the box, you can root, lag fix, and update to froyo all on the phone, without connecting to a pc.

Im all for android.. just cant go samsung or tmobile though. Neither are options for me so ill just be waiting to see what Sprint comes out with next more than likely. Im sure there will be a second version of the evo so im pretty content until then unless they come out with something else around Christmas or the first of the year.

Yeah the only thing that holds me back (a bit) is that I'm going to have to learn a whole new language. I'm coming off of 5 years + of Blackberry and pretty much understand it and the workarounds inside and out.

But, RIM is disappointing me. It's like they refuse to create a true competitor to the mediaphones that are on the market. Storm lol! Not to mention it doesnt' look like RIM is in a rush to get a HSPA+ capable phone to Tmo.

I want this thieme though:

Man...You still talking about being scared to give up that old curve?

Get your feet wet with an HD2 off of craigslist. Got mine for $200. They go cheap cause windows sucks so bad and slap Android on there. You even get the HSPA service.

I would never EVER buy a blackberry for personal use... shits are wack in 2010. The only way id ever use one is if it was for work and they were paying for it. And even then id probably still have another line to use in my personal time. I hate blackberries... I had one for two days and took that shit back. They're secure true enough but dull and boring as fuck.

Nah, not that at all.
Everytime I get ready to jump - a newer better Android for Tmo comes out.
I was going to get the Vibrant S.
30 days later, the G2 was on the market. Finally a 4G for Tmo. Got ready to jump on it.
30 days later the MyTouch 4G was on the market. Got ready to jump on it
--- now the Nexus 2 is about to drop.

I think if the Nexus 2 comes though, I'll definitely jump on it.

What's the HD2 like? You can get Windows off it and install Android without fucking up everything?

It runs on top of windows but you'd never know it. Smooth & even Faster than my old Nexus was (This was before Froyo).
Here's mine...

If your gonna do contracts jump on the Mytouch 4G. I Checked it out today..Very nice build quality and Wireless calling which is what kept me tied to the 9700 long after it was outdated.

Nice.
Where are the directions to overlay Android on it and where do you get Android?

If I can screw around with Android and get a 4G phone for $200 used, I'll take that jump no problem.

Heist, just wait until january or feb to get a new android this phone in this post is not the nexus 2 it's samsung's new galaxy s leader phone r it drops in early 2011 probably by the tech show in feb... the nexus s is out in dec(display rumored to hit bestbuys nov 14th so who knows) and it will 1ghz but stock android... the 4'5" phone may or may not be stock but seriously ur coming from a bb u sure u wanna jump to a 4'5" phone?

here's what u do, go on craigstlist and ebay and get a G1... activate it with your gmail and use it only on wifi buy a pre-paid sim card just so it won't fuck up but again only on wifi u won't make any calls and get used to android, get used to rooting then when the phone u really want drops go for it by then u'll have a working knowledge of whatever u want to figure out so u don't feel out of sorts with the new android coming from a bb...
