Mets G.M. Omar Minaya solved the Mets 'pen problems by signing one of the best 'closers' the game has ever known.....former Angels star, Francisco Rodriquez, aka, "K-Rod", age 26.

K-Rod was hoping for big bucks after his record season in 2008, in the neighbophood of $60-65M, but settled for a 4yrs/$51M package. He should take the NL by storm (the AL has more pure hitters/sluggers), and ask for a big pay raise. Failure to get it will lead him elsewhere, and the Yanks just may be in the market. Remember, Mariano Rivera will enter 2009 on the last year of his Yankee contract, and another successful year may get him another two-year deal. This will take him to 2012, which will coincide with K-Rod's availability. Mo will be almost A42, and K-Rod will be twelve-thirteen years younger. Whatever action by the Yankees will be predicated upon the performance of either player. This scenario may be on the mind of K-Rod and his agent.

The Mets 'closer' will have "Tommy John Surgery", which will keep him on the sidelines for all of 2009 AND MOST OF 2010. With K-Rod at the helm, there won't be any attempts to 'rush' Wagner back. In fact Wagner may have seen his role with the Mets take a radical change. Some guys make a successful return after this surgery, some don't.

Rodriquez had 62-Saves for the Angels(2008); 3X All-Star; 3X Saves Champion; 2X 'Rolaids Relief Man of the Year; and his fastball travels at 93-94 MPH.
