 So another offseason in Gotham.

In order to reach to the level of the Heat, what moves do we have to make?

Here is a list of the upcoming 2012 free agents:http://www.hoopsworld.com/2012-nba-free-agents

There is an article on Lin speculating that he might not return. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/jeremy-lin-future-ny-knicks-set-stone-article-1.1076211

I'm not expecting many trades, but our most tradable asset is Jeremy Lin. There is a report that as many as six teams want to offer him a deal. If Lin wants out, we can probably get back a shitload.

One trade that intrigues me is determining whether Golden State wants Lin back. If they do, would they come off Steph Curry? At this point, Steph Curry has been injured a lot, but Golden State's medical staff is worse than ours. IMO, Steph is the perfect PG for Melo, Amar'e, Chandler as he is a sniper from the perimeter and can distribute between Amar'e + Melo.

Knicks need to draft well in the 2nd round. They need a banger down low (Quincy Acy from Baylor or the kid from Bama) and a point who can penetrate and has a decent jumper (Tu Holloway from Xavier or either point from Nova or Washington)

DOLAN PLEASE DON'T SIGN ANYMORE VETERANS!!!! PLEASE!!!!!! you do the same shit every year and always with the same result.........stop signing other people's garbage!!!! and please get Bibby's old ass off my team!!!!

and pretty please stop the Lin hype, dude is below average but everyone is making a big stink about him, trade him to the first team that offers something decent!!!:hmm:

Resign: Lin, J.R. and Novak.
Bring in: J. Crawford and A. Jamison
Get rid of: Gadzuric, Douglas and Fields.

Jamison backs up both Melo and Stat. Crawford starts at the 2 and can play backup point. STAT has already started recruiting Nash. (in fact that nigga has been real vocal about what he wants.) If you can sign him, then so be it. But I'm not betting on that shit.

We don't have any money for any young players. We have to add vet minimum guys to support Amar'e, Carmelo, Chandler.

Regarding Lin, I pray we rape some retarded team in a sign and trade. He's hyped like a superstar, generates cash for the organization, and is the equivalent of Ramon Sessions.

If we can get a treasure trove for Lin, we should do it. However, Dolan is a money grubbing bastard and probably won't trade him for anyone other than a CP3..which isn't happening..

How are we supposed to bring in Crawford and Jamison? They won't sign for the vet minimum.

We have to use our whole fucking MLE to sign Lin. Once thats done our moves are done.

told ya'll Novak and Nash going to Miami

You don't have any money either. You'll probably get Nash, but he has to take the mid-level which is either $3.4mill if y'all are paying the luxury tax; $5.0Mil if you not.

If Novak accepts the LLE at $2.5 then he's staying in New York, since he is our target with the LLE. So the only way Novak leaves is if someone uses the whole MLE on him or more.

Any team that spends $5mil on Novak, good luck.

Then let Lin go for someone. I'd sign and trade him for a more productive player like Crawford. It pissed me off when the Knicks let him walk in the first place.

Nah fam... You don't trade a huge commodity for 32 year old Jamal Crawford.

We don't have the cap space to sign anyone. Lin is a means to get better. You only trade him if you get back assets at multiple positions.

why not? Get rid of Jones, Cole, Harris and curry

Nash is coming and Novak too

and the heat owner said he is going to pay the luxury tax

Why not? Because your team salary is already at $78million for next season and Turiaf has a $1.2M player option.

http://hoopshype.com/salaries/miami.htm

Do you have your amnesty still? Maybe axe Joel Anthony, but it doesn't matter anyway. You are capped out.

Put it like this: The Knicks are in a horrible long term cap situation, but our salary is only at $60 mil for next season with everyone opting in.

Miami will only have the $3.4 million MLE and the $2.5 LLE

I hear what your saying. I don't really want to bring in someone at the expense of a young player.

..BUT

I think the Knicks need a post player off the bench or a consistent 2 guard. If they get one of the two then I'd be happy. The best bet is that Lin resigns and doesn't eat up the whole MLE. If he does, the Knicks are stuck.

He's going to take the whole thing; he'd be a fool not to. And there is nothing wrong with that.

But I agree, we are stuck with veteran minimum guys. Maybe we will let Novak bounce and use the LLE exception on someone else.

true but the heat owner said he is going over the cap and will pay the luxury tax

that's why I said the heat will probably go after both Nash and novak

They could trade Amare .... So many issue would be fixed moving him its amazing.

Man... I wish we could.. :smh:

Nobody is going to trade for him...because they know they would be doing us a favor.

man I've discussed this before and yes there are a few teams that could do it and before the second argument starts Amare has shown he has enough in the tank to be viable in a trade. everyone is taking the fact the front office isn't trying to mean it can't be done.

The real issue is Dolan is too fucking stupid/proud to admit he fucked up and dismantled the team that was custom made to work around Amare and that the Knicks need to now go all in order to build a team around Melo. Shit the team they have now healthy is almost custom made for Melo except for Amare.

maybe the Knicks FO think the leagues GM will give NY a hard case and try to rape the knicks. Normally I would say that is the case but the New GM seems ..... smart. I have a feeling they could pull something.

also Novak will likely stay in NY for the LLe or go after that money. I honestly think he is going to leave for the cash to a small market team. Dude is way to young and had way to great of a year to move his family to accept the same money he could get in NY Ring Chasing. Its either NY or go for the Cash.

before you talk about who to bring in the Knicks braintrust have to sit down and decide how the three main cogs(Melo,Amare, and Chandler) are going to exist.

That means sitting down and studying the X and O's of floor spacing and how you will generate the shots that you want. Spend some money and hire some of the best offensive minds on a ongoing consultancy basis to fine tune that offense.

Woodson has already started to state what he wants for next year. One of them is Melo getting in better shape. Also, he told Stat to work on some post moves. (which is why I think they brought LJ in.)

Back to the drawing boards for the Knicks:lol:

I don't know what yall are going to do. :smh: I do like to laugh at the demise of the Knicks, but I would also like to see them win for a change. Good Luck.

:lol: The Heat haven't won shit and won't this year yet that's what you want your team to aspire to? :smh: That's what needs to change in the Knicks organization and amongst the fans first. Aspire to be like champions. "...level of the Heat..."

downside is that more people will scout the knicks next year too

and other teams will constantly evolve as well

It's funny how STAT says he wants to work on post moves because the only thing he's ever really done is pick and roll. But then he wants to bring in a guy that has pretty much played nothing but pick and roll with him (Nash)

Come on relax. The Heat are the best team in the East and they are a championship caliber team.

I aspire for my team to be the best, a more immediate goal is reaching that top tier in East. Once we make it there, set more achievable improvements and goals.

why is it wrong to aspire to play like one of the better teams in the league? Like the bulls, the spurs, the heat, the thunder
