“Ask yourself, ‘What would scare my grandmother or piss off my grandfather?,’ and that’s a Fox story,” Kate McKinnon explains to Margot Robbie in the new trailer for Bombshell, and somehow Megyn Kelly’s period fits both criteria. Cue … Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy?” Bombshell, out December 20, is based on female Fox News employees’ experiences with sexual misconduct and harassment, some at the hands of founder Roger Ailes and some from President Trump himself.
Charlize Theron is unrecognizable as Megyn Kelly, Nicole Kidman plays Gretchen Carlson with coiffed perfection, and Margot Robbie is in the role of Kayla Pospisil, a fictional character created for the film. The rest of the ensemble includes John Lithgow as Roger Ailes, Connie Britton as Beth Ailes, Allison Janney as Ailes’s legal counsel Susan Estrich, Kate McKinnon as a Fox News employee, and Nazanin Boniadi as former Fox News correspondent Rudi Bakhtiar. There’s just one question: Who’s winning Best Lead Actress and who’s taking home Supporting? Our money is on Nicole Kidman’s wig for lead, as always.
