After Months of Focus Groups and Market Surveys, Vin Diesel Announces Title of Eighth Fast and the Furious Movie

Knowing in some small way how movie studios work, I would bet a fat stack of cash that many very important people spent hours upon hours trying to chose the best title for the eighth Fast and the Furiousmovie. Furious 8? Fast 8? 8n't 2 Fast 2 Furious? The last two Fast and the Furiousmovies were Furious, but there's something to be said for a nostalgic nod to 2011's Fast Five. Luckily for them, Vin Diesel took to Instagram to put that baby to bed, finally allowing Hollywood's best and brightest sequel-namers to go home and spend some time with their children and maybe get a good night's sleep. According to the image teased by their franchise star, Fast 8 will be blowing exhaust right in our ecstatic faces in April 2017.

In even more exciting news, the new film will be set in New York, where every car chase will immediately end with someone getting stuck behind a city bus.​
 
Without Chinese investors, I guess some of these movies will have to have local sets.

The only bad one was Tokyo Drift. These jawns are mad entertaining . Tokyo draft had some nice Asian pussy in it tho.

triple X is supposed to be coming back. Vin Diesel stars IIRC.
They should keep making riddick movies until the wheels fall off.

LOL brutal truth, saw that last night out of boredom I had to up the volume everytime Vin spoke due to his mumbling, good try but he just does not fit the role, I think he is forever typecasted
 
Props to the franchise. They have clocked serious bank the past 15 or so years. Gotta respect the staying power and appeal.

Aside from revisiting Xander Cage, Vin Diesel has also been teasing fans with murmurings of more Fast material — and not just in the form of one sequel, but three,because he's a boy who appreciates a good action movie, regardless of the number. Well, good news: There will be less talking and more racing, as the actor took to social media late Tuesday night to confirm that trilogy you might have heard of, and to offer some clarity in the process. "The studio has asked me to release some very big Fast news," the actor wrote on Instagram earlier in the evening. "As most of you know I like to stay in character, [Xander], for the most part when given the opportunity to make magic. However, it was Toretto Tuesday and the studio gave me big news to share ... So I will share it." And share he did, with his Toretto Tuesday update officially revealing the next entrants (and release dates) of a now-ten-film saga:

 
Fast 8 Is Making A Major Change With Its Villain

Fast 8 won't be revving its engines in theaters until next summer, which means there's plenty of time to pop open the hood and retool Universal's franchise before taking it out for another spin. One key component, the film's villain, looks to be undergoing a massive overhaul, as it looks like Dominic Toretto and his crew will be facing down a female antagonist.

While we previously thought Jason Statham's Fast 7 baddie Deckard Shaw would bereturning, it appears that early word surrounding F. Gary Grey's sequel would be pegging a "lone female" as the cause of the Fast 8 team's woes. Even more exciting is the fact that Deadline mentioned a candidate the studio has in mind for the role, and it's none other than Academy Award winner / road goddess Charlize Theron, who had previously collaborated with Grey in 2003's The Italian Job. We'll let you settle down after pumping a celebratory fist in the air, as this sounds pretty awesome.

Apparently, trying to be one of the first Hollywood films to shoot in Cuba, or creatingthe largest explosion in Iceland wasn't enough to keep the blood flowing throughFast 8's veins, and frankly – this is a pretty awesome way of upping the wow factor. Theron can be a cold blooded villain on either side of the spectrum – as she's both camped it up in Snow White and The Huntsman and brought a subtle menace to her award winning turn as Aileen Wuornos in Monster. So playing an as of yet unnamed vehicular bad-ass probably sits right in the sweet spot of the continuum, which is what wowed the crowd in her more heroic role as Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road.

Of course, with every awesome rumor comes a not-so awesome consequence. With all due respect to Charlize Theron, her potential casting as Fast 8's only villain kind of bums us out, as it pretty much means that Helen Mirren's hopes of playing the Shaw family matriarch won't be coming true. Though there is always the possibility that Theron's character could be yet another member of the Shaw brood, possibly Jason Statham's sister, which would open the door for Mirren to come into play in either Fast 9 or Fast 10 as Mother Shaw. Also, it would make the Italian Job reunion all the more inclusive, leaving the ball in F. Gary Grey's court to bring Mark Wahlberg in as the black sheep / good guy of the family in one of the subsequent sequels.

Naturally, a lot of details are unknown at this point, and Charlize Theron's participation is sought after, but not guaranteed. Still, it does sound like a project that's in her wheelhouse, and Theron would be a perfect candidate to raise some hell with Vin Diesel and company. The potential action set-pieces alone are worth pushing for this result. For now, we'll just go back to counting the days until Fast 8'stheatrical release on April 14th, 2017.

That's some fucked up shit. What's if two cars pass under the camera at the exact time, however only one is speeding? Like on a two lane road with those digital speed signs.
 
Im sure im in the minority here...but ive seen one FF...and that was the first one.
I didnt like it and aint seen one since.

They doing big numbers for a reason...so im thinking about giving it another shot.
Is it necessary to start at FF #2?
Or can i skip and go to like FF #6?

I doubt every movie was good.
So im tryna watch ONLY the good ones.

Toyko drift was the last somewhat realistic one. These have gotten more and more ridiculous, and less and less about their original premise...
