now he dies on some remote island, while she has to go thru life being an unhappy single mother raising a cac baby
They survived a catastrophic plane crash and the first thing he does upon regaining consciousness is criticize her and remind her he's her boss as if that matters in that situation.
I might be venturing out on a limb here but I'm gonna guess this movie isn't a serious survival drama e.g. Cast Away.
White men love to act and think like the are the smartest in the room; but truth be told are always the dumbest...Sidebar: cast away was a SERIOUS survival drama? I have NEVER thought of that way.
But to that point, Bro I've been trapped in train cars, elevators , a glass bottom boat, plane, locked on a city roof... with other people.
And the FIRST one to talk that type of sh*t every time?
Is a white man.

Mofos will kill the whole situation to prove being right; Django classic example of how white men truly think...And they will do that sh*t in the face of OBVIOUS FACT.
I mean yeah men in general we do that IM THE LEADER MAN sh*t but my PERSONAL experience is that when the guns come out? The electricity cuts out? The sharks start to circle Zthe boat?
Black men tend to look at each other on some A team sh*t. And a black women if present? will either be Hannibal or BA.
White man suddenly thinks its their moment to play grand commander... badly.

Yeah, I'm not denying white men have massive egos but those situations aren't comparable to being stranded on a deserted island in the middle of nowhere. The situations you mentioned leave a very reasonable expectation of rescue in a timely manner.
My next question is what do you consider a "serious" survival film or just a serious film in general? Not a SERIOUS survival film but I may be taking your statement too literal.
Its a movie. We haven't even seen it yet. And it seems to be in the exact vein and tone of other recent Rami projects. Fun horror modernized throwback. I think you should see it before that one moment colors your whole opinion of the movie.
My next question is what do you consider a "serious" survival film or just a serious film in general?
Honestly, I would say my statement was redundant since, by definition, dramas are serious. So calling a film a "serious drama" is like calling a film a "light-hearted comedy." And Cast Away is undoubtedly a drama.

Since, it's Raimi, and I know the film isn't trying to take itself seriously, I have no problem watching it at some point. I'm not in a hurry to do so by any means. And, despite what it seems, I wasn't being critical. I was just pointing out what seemed to be the tone of the film.
That's what I'm trying to get at -- what does "serious drama" mean to you? To me, it meant the film aimed to depict authentic human emotions in response to a tragedy and a struggle for survival. Personally, I believe Cast Away did that quite well. That is what threw me off you saying "serious drama" means something different to me.
