New Line drops HD DVD as well

It is now clear that New Line (Owned by Warner Bros.) will also drop HD DVD in favor of Blu-ray. The announcement comes on a day that can only be described as a nightmare for the HD DVD camp.

This means that from May 2008 no titles from New Line and Warner Bros. will be released on HD DVD.

The reason for the May 2008 date is that Warner Bros. is currently under contract to deliver titles on the HD DVD format. The contract ends on that date.

The Sony execs are doing backflips. This shit will go down as the saving grace of that piece of shit PS3. I only fear that now Sony will again get lazy and arrogant and forego their agressive push to actually get quality titles available for that machine. I guess we can also foret about another price drop any time soon too.

I am a 360 owner, like it for GAMING, but I will admit that for 399, a PS3 is a better VALUE(built in wireless, Blu Ray,etc).....maybe not the clear winner for strictly gaming.

It is funny that Sony is letting you get everything in one package with the PS3. Sony is infamous for being proprietary and nickel and diming for all the little shit(4 controller multi tap, memory card, etc). Microsoft does need to up their game and make the 360 with everything internal. It is bullshit that for $399, I still had to buy the wireless add on, and if i want HD DVD, the add on player

Man im a little disappointed because i wanted to support Xbox 360 (due in part to the inferior gameplay, and library of the PS3 as well as the fact that i went through two PS2's without any repair help from sony). I simply refuse to invest nearly $500 in both systems and have been holding out for a clear winner in the system war. I was leaning heavily toward 360 but i will probably now wait another 6months before making a buy.

As was noted, having to buy wifi seperately doesnt help matters, especially with this new information.

PS3 was down for the count too. Oh well.

Yeah, having to buy a wireless add on in this day and age is complete bullshit, especially at $99 for the official XBOX version. I mean, c'mon, every laptop now a days basically comes stock with wireless

I may wait man. I've been keeping up with your posts trying to make my mind up. I was pretty set to cop a 360elite at the end of the month. I may wait now, i can wait 6months, another price drop is imminent. Im also hoping they release a system with built in wifi.
