Position Title: Network Engineer, Manager
Type of Position: Regular Staff

Duties: This position is responsible for providing leadership for the engineering and design of new network services or modification to existing network services of all centrally managed network equipment and voice communications systems. Analyze and prioritize tasks and redirect resources when necessary to efficiently utilize resources and meet mission requirements.

Position will provide leadership and direct the 2nd level diagnosis and repair, and return to service of all centrally managed network equipment and voice communications systems to ensure their continued availability.

This position will track and analyze network technology trends, prepare recommendations, and prepare cost estimates for new network technologies, technology replacement, upgrade or reconfiguration to meet customer current and anticipated solution requirements, as well as provide project leadership for implementation of approved changes validated through the organization's change management process.

Position will be expected to mentor and develop staff resources to meet the changing technology requirements of the university.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 4 years related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Successful candidates will demonstrate many of the following attributes:

- 4 years plus experience leading a network engineering staff
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with customers, employees, peers and senior management
- Demonstrated successes in project management and the execution of multiple or large projects
- Demonstrated skills in resource, vendor and contractor management
- Demonstrated competency in financial and budgeting management
- Demonstrated successful development and implementation of new technologies and work processes
- 4 years experience in infrastructure/network environments, network design, and planning and implementing LAN/WAN technology
- Experience in the design, installation and maintenance of networking equipment: routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, packet shapers and intrusion detection systems and associated technologies
- Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards including TCP, UDP, IPv4, IPv6, NAT, QOS, OSPF, BGP, PIM, Multicast, Radius, TACACS, AAA LDAP, VRRP and HSRP
- Experience in IP address management including variable subnet masking, DNS and DHCP
- Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards for network security including: centrally managed Firewalls, 802.1X, Network Access Control and network flow analysis (NetFlow, sFlow, IPFIX)
- Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards for wireless networking including 802.11A/B/G/N, WiMAX and large scale (greater than 100 access points) deployments
- Excellent knowledge of current protocols and standards for VoIP including ACD, E911, IVR, SIP, CTI, PRI and PSTN
- Experience working in a higher education environment
