Ordered this thing the other day. Supposed to save a lot of money annually with this joint. Really dope looking device might I add. Being able to control it wirelessly was the selling point for me

Yup that will be my next purchase for home improvement with our new Central AC and Heat. I hear it's a pretty good product too. Keep us posted on how it works out for ya. Congrats!!

I've been running the Nest since gen 1. I upgraded to the gen 2, all I can say is it's awesome. The learning technology was the biggest selling point for me.

Ive had the 2nd generation joint sitting around for a few months now. I think I'm going to install it at the end of the summer.

I've had mine for a few months and it's legit. Only issue is that I'm a power Nazi now and my house temperature pisses off the family.

I can't wait to get it up and running... Just read the second gen iPods were made by the same dude? Apple inspired I know I'll love it.... How user friendly is the app?

so all of you who have one how much have you actually saved????? PSE&G gave me a free programmable thermostat so what makes this nest worth the money besides the cool factor

I've had one for a little over a year. My power bill is down about $40 month during summer and even more during spring and fall despite the fact that prices and the outside temps are up.

It has machine learning that adjusts your thermometer automatically minimize cost and maximize comfort. If you adjust it everyday to a certain temperature at a certain time of day it will learn to do that automatically. If nobody is home it will go to sleep with the temp at a reasonable range. When it wakes up it tells you how long it will take to get to your desired temperature.

It turns the fan on to circulate air before trying to cool which is great for my house because one room will be hot while the other is freezing. This saves a lot of money.

If I forget to turn off the AC while out of town I can turn it off entirely via wifi or just let it sleep. When I get within a couple of hours of home I turn it back on.

It knows when power is more expensive and will choose to make it extra cold right before peak cost so that it never gets hotter than desired during the peak and won't come back on until it's either too hot or it's cheap again.

Joint is $249 on Amazon. Is it really worth it?
Naw, you can get a regular cheap programmable thermostat to do the same. You are basically paying for the cool design, wifi, and other shit thats not necessarily needed but is cool to have if you don't mind spending the money

Agreed. I already have a programmable one, but whatever I can do to save $$$ I am willing to try, but not going out to spend $250 on a thermostat :smh:

Last power bill was $200.

I have one, cool design, especially the "away" learning feature, not sure it's worth it over $150 or so. Saves "maybe" $10/month if that. If you are a heavy energy user ($250and up, like me) won't help that much Imo.

this is the only thing that would make it an option for me.

does your power company have an energy saving program??? if so how does the savings equate?

yep, insulate your house and make sure all windows and doors are sealed properly thats all you need to save money and all that material will probably be cheaper than that thermostat

I love this damn thing... Using the app is pretty simply even for a complete retard like myself...

Defiantly adds an upgrade to your home, will save u money, and bitches love it. That's more than enough reason to cop...

Anyone have two? I only bought one but I have two thermostats..

i got the $99 honneywell, wifi version. it does the job.

but what i really need is a new hvac unit, seer 16 or better

My latest power bill was $450 :smh: and that's with just two people and gas stove and water heater. These Houston summers are no joke and I like it frosty. Might have to grab one of these off craigslist.

My crib is 4,500 square ft and my bill is about $300 a month (73 down stairs and 75 up)

I can't wait to see what the bill will be for next month..

I suggest leaving your joint on 73 year round... (I call it that "Cali climate"
