Came into a Note 20 ultra off the AT&T network. Long story short my folks upgraded phones and gave their old phones to my sons to treat like tablets. I figured I'd take the note 20 ultra for myself since it's way nicer than my current phone. My problem is I need to get the Note 20 ultra over to the T-Mobile network where I have my current phone and plan. Is it as simple as approaching T-Mobile and asking for another sim card, or do I need to hit up AT&T first and ask them to unlock the phone? If anyone knows of other ways please drop that info. I'd greatly appreciate it.

Is the phone still active on at&t? Is there a phone number assigned to it? Assuming the phone is paid off, you can just activate on t-mobile. Just make sure you have the IMEI number which can be found in th About section of the settings. So long as the phone is not tied to a number, t-mobile should be able to activate and send you a new sim card. But yeah, visit a t-mobile store in person and see what's up/

You can send a request to the phone carrier and they may do it or
Worst case scenario you can take it to a phone shop and they will unlock it for you as long as its a paid off phone.
