Alright, trying to watch movies at my moms. I have my laptop connected to the Vizio M261VP via HDMI cable but no sound. There is no receiver or anything. It had no sound when I brought my PS3 last Christmas. I'm trying to watch some movies so I need a hook-up. I have it hooked up via HDMI port 1, but there is only picture, no sound. Am I relying on sound from the laptop and not the TV? I have it hooked up at home, but at home I have my TV hooked up to a receiver and it works perfectly.

click on your volume icon on the bottom right to see if you have two volume bars

if not, right click it to pull up your options

I only see one. I held the mouse over it and it says M261VP 100%. If I can't go thru the TV volume (I don't know fucking why) then is there a way to play it thru the laptop speakers? IDK what the fuck is wrong with this fucking POS TV. What options do I click on to fix it?

(thanks for your help, bro. This shit is confounding the fuck outta me. That and I am hungry and moms ain't done cooking. lol)

I still can't get this damned thing to work. How would you use this TV as a monitor? It shouldn't be this difficult

Try right clicking on your volume icon and selecting "Playback devices". It should show HDMI and Speaker output. Set HDMI as default device.

I tried everything you said and could not get that TV to play audio. POS TV. Thanks for all your help, though. Like I said, I brought my PS3 over to the house and no sound there either with HDMI hook up, and that shit is supposed to be plug and play.
