Need Guidance On Starting A Private Car Service

I have an idea of starting a car service exclusive to funeral homes. I notice throughout NYC, there are small funeral homes that want the services of an independent car service for transportation to and from cemeteries for grieving families. I would lease a late-model luxury vehicle, BMW or MB to supplement the limo service that they may already have in place. I would be on call and there to provide an extra vehicle, not to step on the toes of the service already in place.

How does this idea sound? Do you think it is feasible to pursue? I'm figuring that I may have to get a CDL for this but can I do it without one?

I want to get some feedback before approaching a funeral home to see their response.

Thanks in advance.

Peace.

car service thing makes great sense especially for NYC where not everyone drives and "extra' luxury car service makes sense.

Im no expert here the information from the other posters on resources should be explored to tie yourself in the business resources available. It comes down to effective marketing. Many people have great business ideas, plans and execution but heavy emphasis in marketing, press release, hiring small guerilla marketing firm for online and offline promoting.

Yes, most definitely does sound like a good business venture, but like the fellow before me mentioned, you need a solid business plan execution. I also thought of starting a private car service. I would think the most you'd need to operate the vehicle is a chauffeur's license though it may vary by state. Do your homework and call other companies, you'd be surprise how open they are to giving info. Good luck and keep us posted.
