NBA Commissioner Adam Silver sent a memo to teams on Friday saying that he expected players and coaches to stand for the national anthem before games, as is the rule, according to the Associated Press.

The memo also recommended that teams show videos expressing themes of unity before their first home games, a possible compromise to those players who would like to speak out about social injustice and the expression of their right to protest wherever whenever with the league rule.

In the memo, Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum suggested that teams use their opening games “to demonstrate your commitment to the NBA’s core values of equality, diversity, inclusion and serve as a unifying force in the community,” according to the New York Daily News.

Two of the NBAs biggest stars and rivals, Stephen Curry and LeBron James, last week called out President Donald Trump for suggesting that those NFL players who did not stand during the playing of the national anthem should be “fired,” and called them “sons of bitches.”

James called the president a “bum” while other players expressed their disagreement with the president.

It should be an interesting season for a league of mostly (82%) black men who are seen as having more political (and financial) power than those in the NFL.

No word on what the penalty is if the rule is broken.

The Jew prick Commissioner said he EXPECTS players to stand, not that they MUST stand. If all black players including marquee players like LeBron, Steph and KD don't stand what's the league gonna do? Nothing of any real consequence. A fine at most. :hmm:

NBA players have been creative and effective with their protest. I expect to see something from them as far as collective efforts.

Denver Nuggets guard Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf stands with his teammates and prays during the national anthem before an NBA basketball game against the Chicago Bulls in Chicago. This was Abdul-Rauf’s first game back since he was suspended by the NBA on March 12, 1996, for refusing to participate in the national anthem pre-game ceremony. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s decision this week to refuse to stand during the playing of the national anthem as a way of protesting police killings of unarmed black men has drawn support and scorn far beyond sports. Through the years, “The Star-Spangled Banner” has become a symbol of both patriotism and politics.

You notice that nba ads are all marketed to black folks. Maybe we should not watch next season.
