NBA playoffs musings - 75% in

Denver is winning games now. But they still look very vulernable.
They can be as good as any team on any given night (depending
on the ball distribution), but in a series, they have the look of a
squad that is exploitable.....

that is against anyone, not just the west

But at least the big men (Carmelo included) are getting the touches
they need

In the East, I must admit that the air has been taken out of my
sails with regards to the Knicks. They need to get those key pieces
back (Lee and Crawford), in order to make a good showing IF they
do make the playoffs.....

otherwise, they get swept in round 1

As for the Nets, they better hope they get a matchup against a
team with similar softies or else they are going home quite early
:(

The travesty in Toronto is a perfect example of what happens in Denver when Melo is the focal point of the offense. Even when they lost in Chaiago, Iverson was controlling the offense. Everyone was touching the rock and getting shots. Melo has off games and lets it fuck with him.

The game last night should be an example of how they need
to play every night:

Iverson: 46 minutes, 13 shots, 18 points. Anthony
took 19 shots and Hilario took 12. There was one
more player who got double figures in FGAs. That's
what they need more of.

He does that on a regular basis, they will win the
majority of their games. They will also get past the
first round.

Sky's the limit if the dude just concentrates on getting
everyone else good shots like a real PG is supposed to do

That's the point. He has been. The problem is when Melo starts to freelance. Camby and Nene are starting to play well and J.R. Smith is almost healthy. They play streaks where they can beat anyboy in a game..the Melo does dumb shit.

One of the next games, Iverson took 21 shots in 46 minutes, had 5
turnovers and ONE assist. THAT is what I am taking about.
Good PGs can't go off on a tangent like that. Didn't see the
(entire) game, but I know he only had about 6 FGAs at halftime
(while the Nuggets were still in the game)

nets clinched.

good to see jason kidd and vince carter made it into the post season again. even with richard jefferson back (who i'm wondering if he may have come back too soon), i think their lack of frontcourt (and high percentage FGAs) will cripple them in the playoffs.

the nuggets lost to the grizzlies tonight. i wonder if clinching the 6th seed resulted in them easing up. :(

orlando looks like it may wrap up the 8th spot over indiana. i'm cool with that. i think dwight howard is VASTLY over-rated, but i'd still like to see the young man (and grant hill) get in. does anyone else think that jameer nelson is the weak link (aside from the euros) on the magic?

fakers fans have an exciting day of basketball lined up tomorrow. the early games have the warriors AND clippers playing. warriors face minnesota without KG, so you can pencil in the warriors W. the clippers play sacramento who have lost 6 of their last 8, so you can pencil in the clippers W. so by the late afternoon games, the fakers will know what position they are in when they face the sonics.

The Nets have been underachieving since Martin went to Denver.
I like Josh Boone a little. But the rest of our "bigs" aint squat

I said this before and I'll say it again: Until we get decent frontcourt
people, we ain't going nowhere. Our best rebounder is the PG and the
best shot blocker is the SF (when he's 100%)

It's not like this is a recent thing either. The Nets have had years to work this out and develop real talent....
