NASA Spacecraft Reveals Mysterious Object Punching Through One Of Saturn's Rings

Man with the reveal last month that something smacked into Jupiter. This is the second time in as many months that an object in deep space. Is doing something to a neighbor.

Question is.. should we be concerned?

What is going on with Saturn's rings? It appears that recent images from NASA's Cassini spacecraft reveal what seems to be a small object that has ripped through one of the planet's otherwise flat rings. The purpose of the NASA mission, the BBC explains, was to observe "an equinox on Saturn, in a bid to learn more about the gas giant's ring system."

Discover Magazine's take on it:

It looks for all the world - or worlds -- like some small object on an inclined orbit has punched through Saturn's narrow F ring, bursting out from underneath, and dragging behind it a wake of particles from the rings. The upward-angled structure is definitely real, as witnessed by the shadow it's casting on the ring material to the lower left. And what's with the bright patch right where this object seems to have slammed in the rings? Did it shatter millions of icy particles, revealing their shinier interior material, making them brighter? Clearly, something awesome and amazing happened here.

why does that look exactly like the photo from Fantastic 4 part 2 Silver Surfer?

Anyways,NEO's are a concern, not this. Something would have to be very huge to rip through, but to me,it looks like an explosion.Saturns rings are made of Ice,metallic rocks and space dust.Either that or Nibiru'ans are experimenting lol...

Is it crazy that I switched my avvy to Thanos right before I came to this thread?Thanos is from Saturn.

Im not trying to stir the 2012 plotting. But NEO's are becoming VERY frequent. Considering that this thing is still out there, I hope NASA or some amateur such as myself can keep an eye on what goes on up there.

Funny that an amateur found the NEO that smacked the shit out of jupiter.

Well its fact. Even NASA knows thats why they just set up this huge telescope in Antarctica.

why do y'all think they have that giant seed vault with all plants on the planet in Norway?

It's all starting to come together now

U.S. Military has now deemed NEO's classified

from article said:
A recent U.S. military policy decision now explicitly states that observations by hush-hush government spacecraft of incoming bodies and fireballs are classified secret and are not to be released, SPACE.com has learned.

made a thread about this awhile back too

dont forget the codex alimantarius at the end of the year

Well now that new policies have been put in place that make growing your own food illegal I guess I will have to settle for codex. Knocking another 20 years off of my life won't be so bad due to the adverse effects of the food.

stop being greedy and pass the super hormone buffalo wings fam!

I was wondering how this lil muhfukkah got his ass home.:D

An who is he gonna call to bail his ass out on THIS DUI.

Good ole faithful Shane.

Might as well get up now, I'm sure the interplanetary sheriff will be on the phone soon.

*sigh*

:smh:

FRACK!!

Always something out there them fools dont want us to know.
Sadly I agree with em on this one, with all the bullshit hysterics about healthcare. IMAGINE something REAL poppin off these wingnuts and loons can't stop, with their bibles and guns.

Your perspective makes a reasonable point. BUT, at the same time I don't know if I particularly like the idea of waking up and walking outside to my car on my way to class and look up to see what looks like a monstrous luminescent light falling to Earth and the last thing I see is what looks like I'm standing on the surface of the Sun.

I pretty much want to know if I'm living my last moments. I would prefer to go out like Nicholas Cage did in Knowing. In the presence and arms of my loved ones with full recognition and acceptance of what is about to pass. In my eyes there is no better way to fade to black.

there aren't more neos. we just are getting better at spotting them. as the tech improves and as the trickle down improves (meaning that advanced tech in the hands of amateurs) there will be so many spottings of neos that if you're an afraid-type nigga - you'll need meds.

so the notion of an increase in neos isn't accurate - suffice it to say that tech is dawning a better understanding of the shooting gallery that is the solar system.

you see the craters on damn near every body you look at. EVERY BODY. wtf do you think caused them?

we are lucky and getting off this planet (the cradle) into smaller mobile biodome type free space floating units should be a priority before an earth ender hits.

Didnt that was made public, but honestly govt. been doing this for longer than stated. We get lots of NEOs and actual collisions on a daily basis on this planet, but as the galactical alignment draws closer things will become mroe interesting.

All this dibble dabble babble about bullshit on TV diverts our attention from the REAL occurences about to go down.

Yeah. I remember this one. They missed the collision and were trying to put the story together after the event... any update on that one? ...gonna have to hit google...That was a HUGE event to cause such a large effect on Jupiter..

An aside here, did anybody else catch the sky show last night? The Perseid meteor shower was happening.

Never having seen a 'shooting star', those thin streams of yellow light left from meteorite trails,(except on tv and the web that is), it was very cool to see that.

HOWEVER, not before this happened:

Taking out the trash last night, I saw and HEARD a massive brightly lit object streak briefly (half second) across a narrow section of my field of view in the sky, before disappearing. It moved too swiftly to discern any features, except that it was blue/white light, and large enough (or close enough) to have the scale/diameter just less than a dime. At that speed and size, I fully expected to hear an impact . . . I didn't. What's odd is afterwards, maybe 10 mins (I was too excited to go back in) of staring into the sky, THAT'S when I saw a shooting star characteristic of the thin wispy tailed meteors streaks I had seen on tv and the web. What I saw prior to that was NOT narrow or WISPY, and I heard it.

AWESOME.

That was a bolide - a bigger, lower version of a shooting star. Even though it was low enough for you to hear it, most explode or burn up before hitting the ground.
