Universal to Release N.W.A. Movie Straight Outta Compton in August 2015
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=119643

Following the news that the next Bourne movie was moved from an August 14, 2015 release to July 15, 2016 comes word from Universal that the August 14 date will instead go to Straight Outta Compton, the movie about N.W.A.

In the mid-1980s, the streets of Compton, California, were some of the most dangerous in the country. When five young men translated their experiences growing up into brutally honest music that rebelled against abusive authority, they gave an explosive voice to a silenced generation. Following the meteoric rise and fall of N.W.A., Straight Outta Compton tells the astonishing story of how these youngsters revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war.

Starring O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell as Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E, Straight Outta Compton is directed by F. Gary Gray (Friday, Set It Off, The Italian Job). The drama is produced by original N.W.A. members Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, who are joined by fellow producers Matt Alvarez and Tomica Woods-Wright. Will Packer serves as executive producer of the film alongside Gray.

After the production-hell delays on biopics about Miles Davis and Jimi Hendrix, it is kind of a relief to hear that the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton is right on schedule and has the full support of Ice Cube and Dr. Dre. And now, the film’s main cast has been announced. Ice Cube will be played by his son O’Shea Jackson Jr., Eazy-E will be played by relative unknown Jason Mitchell, and Dre will be played by Corey Hawkins, who played Tybalt in this year’s Broadway production of Romeo And Juliet. Above you can find the first press photo they’ve taken for the film. Straight Outta Compton is expected to come out next year.

Maybe he can't act?

Eazy-E’s Son Likely To Play Him In Upcoming Movie

Eric Wright Jr. told TMZ there is a “high probability” he’ll land the role of his father in an upcoming movie about the famous rap group N.W.A.

The group consisting of Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Eazy-E, MC Ren, DJ Yella and Arabian Prince marked the start of the controversial gangsta rap movement. Their music was eventually banned from mainstream radio and they were not allowed to tour.

Business turmoil caused Ice Cube and eventually Dr. Dre to leave the group. Diss records and videos were exchanged between the members for years up until Eazy-E passed away of Aids related complications in 1995. The members of the former legendary group never formally settled there differences.

The movie will be co-produced by former N.W.A member Ice Cube and “may” be directed by Boyz N The Hood director John Singleton.

I can’t talk too prematurely about the stuff I’m doing because nothing’s come to fruition yet, but Ice Cube and I are talking about doing the N.W.A. story. The script is really, really good, and so we’re just figuring it out. New Line really wants to make it.’ Singleton revealed at the Los Angeles press day for his new thriller Abduction.

Eric Jr. says he has been in contact with producers and is eager to play the role of his late father, telling TMZ “I’m the perfect man for the role… I know I’m just like my dad.”

But his daughter can.

She's artistic enough to pull it off ala Carte Blanchet playing Bob Dylan.

Last week, the son Eazy E -- founding member of influential hip hop group NWA, who died of AIDS when he was 31 --said that he'll most likely play his father in the upcoming Ice Cube-produced NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton.

Not to be outdone, E's daughter (and Super Sweet Sixteen alum) Erin Bria Wright, has now piped in to say that not only should Lil Eazy have to work for the role, but that he should compete with her to get it.

In a statement released to the Huffington Post, Bright explains:

I feel the role of my dad in a biopic should “Not” just be a “given” to my brother Lil Eazy solely on the strength that he is my father’s junior! To be honest my father has four sons total who all resemble him in their own way, just as I have an uncanny resemblance to my father and I am a girl.

I think my brother should have to audition and earn the role by delivering a great read instead of just being handed the role—and I’d like to add that I feel I should have that same opportunity to audition for the role as well, and be given equal consideration based on my acting ability and not just my relation.

I have dreamed of getting this role for many years now, as I have always been inspired by how Hilary Swank played a boy in “Boys Don’t Cry,” which I’ve referenced in a past AllHipHop.com interview in 2007.

Perhaps in support of her case, Wright dons an Eazy-E getup in the promo for her debut pop/rock single. Have a look below:

Nah man, if he can't act you don't want to blow a movie like this, it would definitely destroy a story that will be so good, smart move if he can't act, let alone read period.

i agree....a movie like this deserves great acting...

please do not fuck this up...

This is going to DVD faster than Ride Along. I got up doing previews to get popcorn and when I came back the usher was handing out DVD's of the movie.
