Couldn't agree with you more. Having lost my faith in modern hip hop I gave this special attention thinking it would be something new. It's not. It's fucking awful.
I dont know man.. I was one of the biggest hatters of Lupe there is....... Until one day I downloaded the new cd and loaded it into my itouch.. I gave it a good listen on a long drive one day.. And songs like Intruder and Hip Hop Saved me are pretty damn tight... I mean u got to listen to the shit good...I have no idea how the 1st album sounded cause i avoided it like it was the plague.. But this new shit is kind of refreshing to me... Just my take...

BUT
In my opinion Freeway has the Album Of The Year hands down.
Yeah, when the Dumb It Down vid got posted here this summer, i hated that shit. It took a tour with the headphones to appreciate the depth of the approach he took. Dude's lyrics are often not linear.
Haven't heard Freeways record(s). Is this his 2nd? Whats the title?

My personally, I think the album is incredible. I think he really stepped it up from Food & Liquor which I thought was a solid ass debut.
I totally understand that his music won't impress a lot of people but, some people just won't listen with an open mind.

i liked the album...plan to go buy it.
his style on this album is no different from his last one really....its just obvious that he went in a different direction when it came to choosing his producers.
one guy told me he was trying to act gangsta on this album
he listened to the die track and was like "when did Lupe get gangsta?"
i told him to listen to Lupe verse again
after he did that, he changed his mind....then tried to search for another track to hate on.
but anyways....its never been a hip hop artist that everybody just felt was "the bizness".
even the G.O.A.T.S of hip hop have a few unsatisfied customers.....thats just how it is.
how the hell can you borrow someone's flow? If the nigga raps fast, then someone gonna say he is biting twista...so i guess Krucial Konflict and Bone Thugz was bitin his flow to...fuck outta here...and now anytime someone does somethin thats a lil abstract, you gain lil wayne comparisons. Lupe is mad versatile and was simply showing he isnt pigeon-holed to one flow. Definitely a solid follow up to Food and Liquor

i'm feeling it too. Im just to tired of gangster crack rap that this is refreshing as hell to me. Lyrically he be on some other stuff. I catch new stuff everytime i listen to it.

He was on 106 and Park today and you could tell most of those kids had probably never even listened to no more than 2 of his songs
It might not be as good as his last album, but it's still hot
His mixtapes are still better than any of his albums

I like that album alot my two favorite tracks are "Never" and "Suicide Note."
