Taurico, Hubie (Captian Obvious), Jackson, Van Dummy, Breen, whoever else ABC got commentating on ABC....

could you ALL just please

Hubie Brown is not so much annoying because he talks so much, but mainly because he is only good at pointing out the bloody fucking obvious.

But Taurico NEVER shuts the fuck up. Always spouting off about trivial shit while all the viewing public wnats to do is WATCH a basketball game. Somebody stick a SOCK in this muthafukka's mouth please, I can't take it (or at least turn his mike down lower so we can hear the GAME)

you gotta be one of the only ones that does. NObody likes that guy, not just me. Have even heard white guys on the Fan (WFAN) criticizing him for being such a dickhead

Watching the online replay of the Spurs/Hornets games on ESPN. Taurico doesn't talk NEARLY as much as he does on ABC. Also for a few seconds before and after timeouts, there say absolutely NOTHING!! You can actually hear what's going on. MUCH better broadcast without those guys blabbing about crap that has nothing to do with what we are watching

Hubie Brown is not so much annoying because he talks so much, but mainly because he is only good at pointing out the bloody fucking obvious.

in 2006, coach brown was asked about his broadcasting style. here is an excerpt:

I just did it with my own style right from the beginning. I tried to do the telecast as a clinic teaching type situation, using a lot of statistics that I thought that coaches found to be very important during the course of the games and that they used to evaluate their teams after playing a game.

This was relatively new because this affected the graphics of television. People back then said that it was difficult – that there were too many statistics and that there was too much basketball strategy. Now, I never listened to that because the people who were attacking the style were saying that the mentality of the viewer was at a sixth grade level, so consequently you should not challenge the viewer. My answer to that was that if baseball and football are so scientific and the analysts have 25 seconds between each snap in football and each pitch in baseball, why are you criticizing trying to present basketball as a uniform, highly strategic, five-people-working-together-on-a-string type of game? I didn’t understand this. I never let anybody try to tell me that that was wrong.

the highlights and emphasis are my own, because even though he is talking about broadcasting back in 1981, i believe the studios still hold those opinions of sports viewers in general. this results in a "dumbing-down" of the broadcast.

if you look at some of the basketball discussions on BGOL alone, you can see that people are afraid of statistics, and have a poor mental approach to the game.

Unfortunately, Tirico does football games too. I think he even does baseball. So his blabbering goes on all year round. As for Hubie, maybe the basketball IQ of the collective viewing audience would skyrocket if he'd just SHUT THE FUCK UP and let the public hear what's actually happening on the court.. As much as I love stats, the shit he discusses is usually pretty much common knowledge if you follow basketball.

How many times have you watched while something was happening on the court between the players and meanwhile Tirico is blabbering about why Steve Nash was having a hard time getting through customs to light the torch for the winter olympics. Brown chimes in to discuss the fine art of how Dwight Howard leads the league in blocks shots....but not until he is actually blocking a shot. Yes, BGOL threads prove that there are people who aren't basketball savvy. Doesn't mean you have to talk over 95%....no, I mean 99% of the action. Most of what they talk about is irrelevant to what is in front of us. And the shit happening in front of us is many times ignored

oh and Hubie never was that impressive as a coach. His teams were usually full of robotic cats without a creative bone in their body. Anytime he covers a running style of team and gives them praise, I know he is lying. He always hated that style while he was coaching. Even in the ABA

i dislike it too. just saying that maybe he panders to the idea that was put before him about viewers being of the 6th grade level. those types of viewers need the constant stimulus to stay in tune and need to be told what's going on (their take, not mine).

coach brown fell off my radar when he birthed the idea that it would be good to start patrick ewing and bill cartwright together at the same time to form a twin towers. attempting to copy the ralph sampson/akeem olajuwon tandem with 2 very different players was a horrible experiment (and would tend to explain why the knicks were TERRIBLE with him).

he also took a great player like Bernard King and ran him into the ground. Had Bernard taking 25, 30 shots per game like ya boi Kobe. And calling the same exact play over and over and over....After awhile poor BK had 2 and 3 guys draped all over him and this muthafukka calling the same play. Was only a matter of time before he blew something out. The next season he could have played Ewing and King together to form a monster front line. Instead he took one of the best that ever did it and broke him in half just for 25 or 30 wins. Don't get me started on this guy.

watching SA vs Atl game....and sorry Cran, but Hubie Brown needs to STFU in the worst way. He talking about more irrelevant shit than Tirico

game 2, Phoenix vs Portland
no Hubie, no Taurico, no Breen, Jackson or McDummy. They can always find somebody to fill up the air waves with blather, so not holding my breath

would like to see them do one game with NO announcers just once just to see what happens

Tirico also does golf commentating too. That little rogaine deficient cat is always on-air somewhere.

He stays on the grind. And someone needs to tell him to let the fuzzy dome go. Go bald, son.

TV Sports Announcer is the most USELESS, UNNECESSARY and OVERPAID job in the United States of America. Unless you are blind, in which case you will need someone to tell you what's going on. And even then, the announcer will bombard the blind man with enough bullshit to make him not want to even listen anymore

Take all the salaries of all the TV play-by-play announcers and let's help create some real jobs.

taurico & brown are in rare form today (Hawks vs Bucks game 7).... taurico talking so much that half the time he can't even get the players name right...

Jamal Crawford is "Joe" Crawford
Marvin Williams is ....Andrew Bogut??

if he just STFU, and stop talking up every waking moment with his fat mouth, maybe he wouldn't make so many fucking mistakes. I mean it's game 7....nothing else needs to be said. Why not let the GAME create the drama of the day instead of trying to MANUFACTURE some bullshit with your mouth??

and hubie....he's the NBA announcer equivalent of Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon....

"I'm too old for this"

btw, Brandon Jennings is an expert at falling down. The ROOKIE has gotten two fouls calls on VETERANS players by simply fainting....

if one of the dynamic duo of horseshit was paying attention, they might actually make a comment about that. The refs are calling touch fouls for him but letting everyone else get hammered

edit
make that 4 times. He got two just before the half. even hubie sees it now

Apologies to all that love him, but I can't stand Reggie Miller's horrible, Marv Albert-ass-kissing voice.

Reggie is constantly yassa bossin, brown nosing, and talking up to "Marvelous" as he loves to call him.

He needs to stop all that "uncle tomming" and work on his personal appearance, I mean damn, he looks just like that Ferengi character Quark from Star Trek DS9.

I dare anyone to check him out at the link below, and tell me that ain't Reggie.

LOL!
