Maybe Kevin can wait, but Chocolate Droppa is ready for his day in the sun: Kevin Hart's rapper alter ego is releasing an album.Billboard reports that Droppa, a persona Hart has played for at least six years, has signed with Motown Records. He'll drop(pa) his debut album sometime this fall. To those unfamiliar, Chocolate Droppa is not the thoughtful, complex Childish Gambino to Hart's Donald Glover. He's a joke character who spits a pretty frail flame intentionally. As the AV Club points out, Hart even played Droppa in aSaturday Night Live sketch last year. Now, as for whether Droppa's a joke that's actually funny, well that's a matter of the Hart.

congrats on dude getting signed. but the down side is he got signed to capital records. sheit, capital is barely a record label anymore if ur talking about new music and black artists. they got rid of their black music dept years ago and don't have any new rap artists on the label. hope kevin is coming with his own marketing and promotion plan for the rap music market cause they sure don't have any over at capital :smh:

Can Kevin Hart bring fun back to Hip-Hop??

Hip Hop and rap music is in dire need of an image makeover and the first place to start is to bring back fun in the music and culture. Before Rap music's Dark Age (the period between 1995, after Tupac was killed, and somewhere in the 2000s) there was fun and diversity in the genre.

I'm not going to say it was all rainbows and lollipops but one could get silly and be popular in rap music. Humpty Hump anyone? But it seems today the humor and comic sensibilities in Hip-Hop leans hard into the mean spirited. Kinda like the way someone would laugh if they saw a guy trip and fall down a flight of steps.

Chocolate Droppa (Hart's parody rap persona) seems well poised to bring back some much needed silliness and light hearted humor to the culture. Actually a CD could have been used a few years ago but Hart has the clout now to make it happen with himself as a producer. I know its a tall order to expect one person to have a significant affect on a whole culture but maybe Kevin Hart's project can initiate some change in direction that others can pick up on.

SO? He's still about done. Don't give a fuck about those movie numbers. I got no problem with Kevin Hart. But his little comedy shit is getting old.
He even knows it. Thats why he's doing all the movies he can now because 5 years from now the nigga is not going to have 3 movies a year coming out. Im just saying.

So what is your issue? He's not funny? He was never funny. Most of us enjoy reading about numbers, about getting money, and all that jazz.

He's getting money. That should be good enough for most of us. I can't for him to imply he is so rich, he hasn't even touched his BET money. Most of us will lap that up.

Honestly, his music will probably sound just as bad as the shit that passes for hip-hop today.
Just get a nice beat and spit about busting slugs, start a fake beef and it'll be hit. After all, it's just entertainment :hmm:

Remember when comedians put out albums this is the same it's in the form of one of his characters that are mimicking rappers and the art form.
