Music News: Another Hollywood strike? Musicians union ‘prepared to do whatever it needs’ for AI protections and streaming residuals

Gotta try to get in front of this AI shit. It's frightening what it can do.

I'm waiting for the AI trump campaign ads. You just know they're gonna have Biden saying some shit he never said. Then they'll say "oops" that never should have aired, that was just a personal joke we made. Sorry (not sorry).

Just wait. They already did it with Barry and got busted.

This election is gonna be a nightmare.

And I think musicians DEFINITELY need to get WAY in front of this AI stuff

Especially the big name artists.

You're right.

As a musician, you know.

- I hated when synths and drum machines replaced musicians but it's the music BUSINESS so it's inevitable companies are focused on the bottom line and fuck creativity
- I was excited when they laboriously and analogously put together the master tapes of Erroll Garner's Concert By The Sea.
- I was thrilled when they developed a computer program that recreated some of Art Tatum's works and removed all the clicks, scratches, tape hiss etc
- I still rail against the fact that music companies have managed to dumb down the publics ears so that they accept manufactured sounds instead of real instruments and even more that they accept crappy 128 kbps quality.

And now here comes AI.

Bro, social media can't be controlled. A few concocted videos on tiktok or twitter or whatever can do enormous damage.

Especially when the thousands of AM hate radio stations start discussing them.

At that point the video no longer matters and the misinformation just gathers steam on it's own.

Besides giving up national secrets to ease his debts, you'd better believe trump got help from putin in waging a disinformation campaign. After all putin is a master at it.

Holy f**k

Yup. If we don't get out and vote en masse we are in for some banana republic shit.

And if anybody bothered to read the Mueller report they'd know it was found unequivocally that the russians interfered in the 2016 election WITH trump's knowledge and encouragement.

Political post of the day.

What you know bout Errol Garner and Art Tatum??

I'm on top of this AI shit when it comes to music. I've already started getting stems from songs. I uploaded Branford's quartet albums and got stems, isolated some kenny kirkland solos and then put them in logic and played them at quarter speed...lol, this ai shit is crazy!

Oh I know bout em. I was tryin to see what YOU know bout em?

Average Joe don't know shit about no Art Tatum. You play piano?

But I'm not an Average Joe.

And I know Art Tatum was arguably the best Jazz pianist to ever live. Certainly one of the 3 Titans of Piano.
