After reports surfaced that 6ix9ine's sexual misconduct case would likely result in a new sentencing, a New York judge has instead dismissed the case entirely.

According to TMZ, the decision to dismiss the case, and therefore revoke the sentencing of four years probation and 1,000 hours of community service, arrived in the wake of his being booked on federal racketeering and firearms charges.

Due to the Brooklyn rapper's latest arrest, the state's government isn't able to enforce probation or facilitate community service. As such, 6ix9ine's fate now lies in the federal court system. His lawyer, Lance Lazzaro, confirmed the update on his client's legal situation with TMZ.

As previously reported, a pre-trial conference is set for January 22 and the trial will begin in September 2019. He currently is facing 32 years to life in prison stemming from his arrest in November.

Regarding the decision to drop his state case, where the rapper previously pleaded guilty to use of a child in a sexual performance and accepted a deal to avoid jail time, the Manhattan D.A.'s office had no comment.

Despite his ongoing legal trouble, 6ix9ine's new album Dummy Boy made its debut at the No. 2 slot on the Billboard 200.
