at the time of the release I felt is sounded rushed (it was)
but the tone and vibe was so distinctive and authentic and continued that Wu-ness from the first album.
But I don't think it was a straight banger from beginning to end like a true classic.
RZA's production on almost all of these tracks was sick though.

It would have been a classic........most of the original album was washed away in RZA basement flood.

I had a thread on this...which shows you something RZA claims what was lost was his BEST work!!!
Listen to the awesome music he has crafted AFTER that!!!
RZA name really needs to be mentioned with the greats more often.
* the production PLUS Blue on this track is really slept on, she KILLED it and Meth right here shows his flow inside a beat (something that is so under appreciated is right up there with Em, Bone Thugs and Nelly)
* One of the GREATEST debut singles for a solo hip hip artist of all time.
IMO RZA is top 3 producer of all tme
"peace to the number seven
everybody else get the 4-9-3-ll....."

This tape got 3-4 bangers that i still rock to this day,but the RZA had a 5 year good run. After he stop fucking with them samples and rocking with them keyboards. He took himself out of the 10 all time greatest producers list.Them samples had the streets going crazy. The wu had the east & the west going haywire.Rae and GF stuck up the game with the purple tape.RZA would have been the best hiphop producer after marley marl. But people started coming at him about them samples. So he drop the sp1200 and pick up a keyboard. So Rae and GF said fuck your beats and we are out!
Th WU lost all respect when he did that. But this tape is a solid 5+.
Ticallll......
Ain't no time for half-stepp'in
In a fuck up situation without no help....
Has this nigga ever explained da white out contact that he used to have in his eye???
I think I read somewhere that he was getting a lot of female fan fear and he wanted to remain grimy and not go heartbreak mode. Something along those lines.
Felt like to me RZA went into a phase where he wanted to prove he was a a true PRODUCER and not just a beatmaker...
http://www.bgol.us/board/showthread.php?t=627116&highlight=beatmaker
and I think losing all those records and projects hurt his damn soul and he just wanted a fresh start and for that to never happen again.
But I feel like for a man as intelligent as him to leave a 'chamber' he had mastered like that and just leave it behind before it was fully realized left an indelible mark on hip hop history.
And bobby digital put the last nail in his coffin. Now if the rza was to go back to the chamber for 1 year and called the new wu cd "reborn 1994." Then he could rebuild his name and crush these new kids. But the wu and the rza have been out of the loop for more then 13 years.GF,rae, and meth can still burn up the tracks.Even U-god fame was nice banger and the gods would bless our ears. And if you get redman, nas, face, rakim, and bdk on some tracks. They would have the summer on lock!
Makes sense. Buddy said he was dusted outta his mind on that "Bring The Pain" video.I think I read somewhere that he was getting a lot of female fan fear and he wanted to remain grimy and not go heartbreak mode. Something along those lines.
