5.5/10

I watched this last night on the road on tubi.

This is an animated feature. I looked into it and 6 of the 7 animated shorts are considered canon.

I have never played the video games or read any books on the franchise. The only thing I have seen is the Halo series on Paramount+. So I went into this film blind.

The movie deals mainly with the backstory and origin of the Halo universe. The film does a good job explaining it and keeping it short and informative. There is only one story dealing with Masterchief.

Animation is mainly anime, there is one short feature using a blurry style form of animation. The animation style does not fit in with the rest of the film.

If you are new and clueless on the Halo franchise, this film will get you somewhat caught up.

Synopsis

Seven anime stories relate to the popular `Halo' series of computer games and the universe associated with it.

X: The Man with the X-ray Eyes

6/10

I watched this one last night on the road on PlutoTV.

This is a classic horror B-Movie. The title is self explanatory so no need to go into it.

What this film needs is a modern day remake, especially with the part when the main character can start seeing thru clothing. Censorship standards when this film was made kept it from going hardcore with nudity and other things.

It’s an interesting film and well made. It has a large cast of recognizable supporting actors. PlutoTV has a good clean copy.

Synopsis

Intent on enhancing mankind's ocular ability, the brilliant Dr. James Xavier (Ray Milland) invents a formula that allows him to see wavelengths of light outside the normal human spectrum. When his funding is suddenly threatened, Xavier tests the formula on himself despite the protests of his colleague Dr. Diane Fairfax (Diana Van der Vlis). While the formula proves initially useful in a variety of minor tasks, Xavier soon finds himself able to see things that no man was meant to see.
