"I think that everybody is laughing," Limbaugh said, in a segment picked up
by Media Matters
. "Our president is a worldwide joke. Folks, do you realize
something has happened here that we all agree with the Taliban and Iran
about and that is he doesn't deserve the award. Now that's hilarious, that
I'm on the same side of something that the Taliban, and that we all are on
the same side as the Taliban."

Republican National Chairman Michael Steele criticized
the selection of President Obama for the Nobel Peace
Prize, saying, 'What has President Obama actually
accomplished?

WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee Chairman Michael
Steele is taking a more negative spin on President Obama’s Nobel
Prize than Hamas.

Says Steele: “The real question Americans are asking is, ‘What has
President Obama actually accomplished?’ It is unfortunate that the
President’s star power has outshined tireless advocates who have
made real achievements working towards peace and human rights.
One thing is certain - President Obama won’t be receiving any awards
from Americans for job creation, fiscal responsibility, or backing up
rhetoric with concrete action.”

Mocking that President Obama won the Nobel
Peace Prize for "awesomeness," GOP chief
Michael Steele sent a fundraising letter out
shortly after Friday's announcement. Steele
said "truly patriotic Americans" should donate
to prevent world domination

Score one for creativity…

President Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize and Republican National
Committee chief Michael Steele is trying to make money off of it.

No, he’s not going to go all “commando” on the White House and try
to wrest it away from the president in hopes of putting it up on Ebay
or anything.

Instead, he found it so ridiculous that Obama was awarded the honor
that he’s using it as a fundraising tool. Steele sent out an email late
last night not only lampooning the award but asking “truly patriotic
Americans” to ante up to fight the forces of world domination.

“The Democrats and their international leftist allies want America made
subservient to the agenda of global redistribution and control,” Steele
wrote. “And truly patriotic Americans like you and our Republican Party
are the only thing standing in their way.”

Steele seemed to disagree with the Nobel Peace Prize committee’s
reasoning for awarding him the honor. The committee said Obama
deserved the award because of his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen
international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”

Steele, on the other hand, opined that Obama won the award for
“awesomeness” — before trashing the whole affair.

“It’s a stunning, if not truly surprising, indication of just how meaningless
a once honorable and respected award has become,” Steele wrote.

Steele is not alone in his surprise. As we told you earlier today, many people — supporters and opponents — don’t quite understand it. In fact,
it’s made some strange bedfellows. Rush Limbaugh and the Taliban, for
example, are united in their consternation.

It’s not as though the talk show host and the Taliban released a joint
statement expressing their thoughts. But Limbaugh noted that they
were aligned.

“Folks, do you realize something has happened here that we all agree
with the Taliban and Iran about and that is he doesn’t deserve the
award,” he said. “Now that’s hilarious, that I’m on the same side of
something with the Taliban, and that we all are on the same side as
the Taliban.”

The Taliban, on the other hand, didn’t mention Limbaugh in their
remarks — although that would have made their comments more
interesting. Instead, a spokesman (incidentally from an undisclosed
location), said Obama’s actions in Afghanistan should disqualify him.

“We have seen no change in his strategy for peace. He has done
nothing for peace in Afghanistan,” a Taliban spokesman told the AFP.
“We condemn the award of the Nobel Peace Prize for Obama.”

The real question is what's wrong with Michael Steele?

I believe the "white noise" coming from the GOP is just a bunch of immature adults who were unpopular kids but now have money and the attention they never got growing up. The more ridiculous their rhetoric, the more attention they get from other immature non-thinking adults who also were unpopular as kids; the masses that follow are translated into multi-million dollar contracts from media outlets.

I'm going to research Steele's background. I recall it was his sister, a medical doctor, who saw Mike Tyson as suitable for marriage, after his wedded ordeal with Robin Givens.

wiki blurb:

Early life

Michael Stephen Steele[4] was born on October 19, 1958 at Andrews Air Force Base in Prince George's County, Maryland[5] and was adopted[6] by William and Maebell Steele. William died in 1962 of alcoholism-related liver disease,[7][8] and Maebell subsequently married John Turner, a truck driver. Michael and his sister, Monica Turner, were raised in the Petworth neighborhood of Northwest Washington, D.C. which Steele has described as a small, stable and racially integrated community that insulated him from some of the problems elsewhere in the city.[9] Maebell Turner was born into a southern sharecropping family in South Carolina[9] and worked as a laundress to raise her children. Steele's sister Monica later married and divorced former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson.[10]

Steele won a scholarship to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. In his first year, he was elected class president; he was also a member of the fencing team. According to Steele, he struggled academically, which he attributes in part to his active social life[11] while pursuing a major in biology; he was nearly expelled from the university at the end of his first academic year. After earning A's in summer classes at George Washington University, Steele was allowed to continue at Johns Hopkins and received a bachelor's degree in international relations in 1981.[9]

After graduating, Steele spent three years as a seminarian in the Order of St. Augustine in preparation for the priesthood. He entered the Augustinian Friars Seminary at Villanova University in Pennsylvania.[12] As a seminarian, he taught freshman world history and senior economics for one year at Malvern Preparatory School in Malvern, Pennsylvania,[13] but left the seminary prior to taking the vows.

Steele then entered the Georgetown University Law Center, receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 1991. He worked as a corporate securities associate at the Washington, D.C. office of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton. From 1991 to 1997, Steele specialized in financial investments for Wall Street underwriters, working at Cleary's Tokyo, Japan office focusing on major product liability litigation and at its London office on corporate matters. Steele left the law firm and founded the Steele Group, a business and legal consulting firm. A New York Times report added that Steele earned his law degree at night and that, though he failed the Maryland bar exam, he then passed the Pennsylvania exam. It also said his consulting business "made so little money that he almost lost his home."[14]

Steele's mother was a widowed laundress who worked for minimum wage. After Michael's father died, Steele's mother ignored her friends' appeals to apply for public assistance, later telling Michael 'I didn't want the government raising my children'. Steele grew up in a Democratic household, but as a young man he switched to the Republican Party.[9]

Steele coined the phrase "Drill Baby Drill" during the 2008 Republican National Convention in Minnesota,...

*************************************************************************
There it is. The adopted son of a drinking dad who died when he was 4, then became the step-son of a truck driver. After all that early childhood adverdity he went on to college but he nearly flunked out. He worked hard to pull his grades up enough to graduate, then he decides to become a priest, but changes his mind before taking his vows. He went to law school, didn't pass the bar the 1st few attempts in MD but eventually passed in PA. He worked overseas (Tokyo & London) for 6 years, then returned to the U.S. and started a business that made no money (almost lost his home behind it). See, he does have a chip on his shoulder!

Not to judge and say that there's anything wrong with how he grew up; it just wasn't the best set of circumstances for Steele - leaving him confused, bitter and a perfect fit with the other grown-up babies of the GOP.
