A treasured piece at the Dutch national museum, a supposed moon rock from the first manned lunar landing, is nothing more than petrified wood, curators say.


It was given to former Prime Minister Willem Drees during a goodwill tour by the three Apollo-11 astronauts shortly after their moon mission in 1969.


The US agency gave moon rocks to more than 100 countries following lunar missions in the 1970s.

US officials said they had no explanation for the Dutch discovery.

This news will only intensify the enormous amount of people who are still skeptical about whether we landed on the moon or not. If I recall, this is the first incident of a country reporting that the rock given to them by Astronauts during their goodwill tour after the moon landing was fake. Perhaps other countries will check if their rocks are knock offs.

Slow your roll there partna. We don't smoke them rocks we got other uses for them tho (ever heard of dilithium crystals), and it would take more than a few rocks to trade for my fly ass space ride.
 
No one was giving out REAL moon rocks 3 months after the mission!!! Everyone knew it was a "commemorative" rock.

America won't gonna give them REAL Moon rocks. Too much info about the past can be garnered from examining them.

The BBC didn't get the "rock" as a gift in 1969. Fool. They're just reporting the recent news. Use your stupid head. Why would NASA be giving away REAL rocks so soon after the mission? That would be ridiculous. The Dutch were willfully scammed. So what??

last one we saw gave me the plans on how to build pyramids for some jade rocks,next time i saw him nigga had green teeth and lips.

Very true

I'm just wondering why when it was determined it was fake that U.S. officials simply didn't say the rock was intended to be commemorative rather than the actual rock. Instead they said no comment, which leaves too much room for interpretation.

not only that, don't you think the soviet union or any other country would've exposed the moon landing as a fake? it's funny how it's only americans who do this. :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Which is why I'm a big proponent of why we went to the moon. Soviet Russia would of absolutely loved to expose a farce of this magnitude.


But my question still remains as to why U.S. officials didn't offer more of an explanation other than no comment when they simply could of said it was a mistake on the Dutch's part because the rock was intended to be commemorative, not an actual moon rock.

Maybe because it's kinda embarrassing, and/or maybe whoever made the decision to pass it off as real is dead and gone (or was just following policy), so there's not gonna be an official explanation. Better to just let 40-year-old sleeping dogs lie. If certain idiots wanna tie this into an absurd "fake moon landing" theory then so be it. No explanation will ever satisfy them.

Good question. I'm not one of these landing hoax freaks but I do think there's someone that likes to keep silly shit stirred up probably as a distraction from real shit. "No comment"? Even a security officer doesn't say that shit.

You know when you call someone a liar, it's on you to prove it. Since there is zero proof of a hoax (a ton of supposition but no proof) I feel safe in saying "You're wrong".
