...while its been an open secret that MNF would sweep Tony Kornheiser out of its MNF booth, bringing on replacement, Jon Gruden,is a shocker. A TV-man, he is not. Chucky's perennial side-line smirk plays well on the side-line, producing comments from others, especially announcers. But it's definitely not a lead-in for MNF and Gruden's personality hardly seems a blend with Mike Terico and Professor 'Jaws'. The same LACK that Kornheiser shared. However, Gruden has no phobia on travel...especially 'air travel'.

While many viewers applaud Kornheisers' dismissal, shouting GOOD RIDDANCE, Chuckey was not their idea of the booth's 3rd guy... which they really don't need. It's definitely not an improvement. But Gruden needs to stay in the public eye, thereby staying available for future employment. Can't blame the guy for that move. So view his role as VERY TEMPORARY!

I look forward to his debut, next August 13th. That will be MNF's initial pre-season run-through, featuring a Super Bowl rematch between the Cardinals and Steelers.

Like I said, Grudens needs the face-time, since his best days are behind him, i.e., Eagles,Raiders and the Bucs (a team he took to the Super Bowl in 2002, and won). Forget the fact that it had been Tony Dungy's team.
