so you like the bailouts Thought?
Detroit wouldn't go bankrupt! The capacity to manufacture would still exist.
3 things;
1) The business model employed by GM is/was unsustainable. When you allow a company to fail, it purges incompetence and allows the freshest & brightest minds to emerge and give the consumer what they desire. People desperately want change but govt continues to prop up failed business models.
2) the regulatory environment in the auto industry made it nearly impossible to complete in the global market
3) where does the bailout money come from? If they just print it, it only taxes our purchasing power, thus hurting the poor, middle class & those on fixed incomes
I'm no fan of Romney! But bailouts lead to unintended consequences like this
