One of my favorite lecturers, Neuroscientist Vilayanur Ramachandran outlines the fascinating functions of mirror neurons - a subset of motor command neurons in the frontal lobe of the brain. Only recently discovered, they allow us to learn complex social behaviors, some of which formed the foundations of human civilization as we know it.
He describes mirror neurons, one of over 100 billion neurons in the brain, as lying at the interface of consciousness, representation of self, social connectivity, empathy and the emergence of culture and civilization.
Watch this short video and think about the significance of his findings wrt mind-body duality .
And for the slow folks, in the context of sexual activity. smfh.
