I can't say I'm surprised by the revelation

Earlier this week, while appearing as a guest on SiriusXM's OpieRadio show, legendary boxer Mike Tyson came forth with a disturbing and tragic revelation. As a 7-year-old child, Tyson said, he was once "bullied ... and sexually abused" by an "old man" who lived in the same neighborhood as him.

The crime was largely unknown to the public, as Tyson had only previously revealed it to those close to him. Opie and his crew were clearly shocked by the announcement. At one point, one of them nervously laughed, and blurted out, "Awkward." It wasn't a particularly smooth segment.

On the other hand, Tyson was calm and composed throughout his account of the incident and how he's dealt with it since. He said that he isn't "embarrassed or ashamed" of the assault, but did indicate that he hasn't perhaps fully grappled with the incident and its effects on his life.

"I don't always remember [it]," said Tyson. "But maybe I do, maybe I don't."

Let's see how many people draw sympathy for him like they do for women who claim the same.

that shit he said about egos being created to mask your demons shit was dope

Man. Tyson is full of gems. Man..you ever see the one with Jalen Rose and Bill Simmons? man..he was dropping gems

*edit*

found it...def never seen this

That's been painfully obvious to anyone who's been interested in his life story. All the signs were there from the shyness to the acting out to everything else he was doing.

I root for Tyson.

I still think him describing his range of emotions before he steps into the ring to fight is one of the best scenes in any documentary ive ever seen.

One of the best interviews I've ever seen with an athlete. And you see why Bill has Jalen there... he can get to places that Simmons are other white guys just can't go.

Same here. I think he kind of alludes to the sexual abuse in other interviews. he would always say he was abused as a kid.. and the way he would say it sometimes always made me think it was more than just physical abuse like beatings.

Theres a lot of Brothas, or Men in general, that have been molested, yet they dont speak about it. That fear of being labeled a fag is one of the reasons why a lot of Men remain silent.
Sadly, folks would rather live miserable lives worrying about what people think of them instead of keeping it real with themselves.

Anyways....
Big fan of this dude. Actually...his "strangeness" is what drew me in. There was a lot of mystery behind the "Tyson character". After listening to him speak...it was obvious that those who criticized him were to real idiots.

No...it actually WASNT obvious that he was molested...based off what you typed or what he's done throughout his life...but it WAS obvious that he's been through some things. Usually when folks do a lot of extra sht...theres a story behind their madness. Most folks are attention whores for a reason.

That "reactive mind" is a mofo!!

I am amazed at this man's second act...

I still hear many primarily white sports heads trying to denounce his legacy and greatly minimize his achievements like THEIR boyhood heroes were so perfect.

Tyson is one of the few men in sports who has fully accepted his faults and demons for the world to see.

yooooooo...I'm @ the part where they're talking about the intimidation factor and tyson took it next level by saying the vilification of these tactics represents the shift in society and what we're tryna impart on ppl

I'm telling you man..this interview was dope!

You already hit the part where him and Jalen were chopping it up about giving their friends and family money?

na not yet...just started re-listening to it...simmons is something else tho...he's more so making statements and asking tyson to confirm it than just asking him questions and letting him answer for himself

*edit*

I'm @ the part where he saying wanting to be in front the camera is more addictive than coke for ppl nowadays

Crazy, have to watch your sons

Yeah, I could have sworn he alluded to it before.

You're a weirdo

Disagree. Go back and look at him.. how he was and how he acted.. he had real trust issues.. real ones.. kids don't have trust issues that severe unless someone they were close to did something like that to them. It carried over into his life.. he finally after a long ass time trusted the old dude.. and then who has he trusted since? He's cool with people he'll work with them but who has he actually trusted?

King took advantage of him being totally out of it by the time he got to him and raped him for hundreds of millions of dollars.

Just go back and look at his interviews when he was coming up. At that time nobody was tripping off of that stuff like they are now. That's why Im not surprised he admitted to being sexually abused.

Shit wasn't even his fault.

Came from the bottom, caught an extremely lucky break. Reached the potential (champ) father figure died laid down with the devil went through the fire and he's here to tell his story. He says in that documentary how he never thought he would live to the age he is now.. and that's why he acted the way he did. he just had enough money and influence to amplify his destructive behavior

Originally I thought Cus molested him.

I didn't get that vibe i always thought it was before Cus got to him but I could very well be wrong.

He seemed genuinely destroyed when he died inside and out like Cus was the guy who was finally a parent who he needed

actually in that video he says it outright. he was abused and he thought Cus was a pervert because he was saying so many nice things to him.

Yeah..now that i think about it...youre right.

Yea man he was just a giant that's why everybody went with the shy and sensitive angle. If he was a little kid someone would have said that boy has been abused and hurt all his life.. but because he was so big and he was a boxer people were just like oh he's just shy..

And he's a faggy if you ask me. A lot of homo comments through the years and blatantly flirting with Don Lemon on CNN.

Mike Tyson is an amazingly bright guy  what a remarkable life!! I dont think many of us could live the life he has lived.
