Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30KOs) is focused on one thing - the December 1st title fight with WBA "regular" champion Austin Trout (25-0, 14KOs) at Madison Square Garden in New York City. To Cotto, a former champion in three weight divisions, it was very important to put himself in position to end the year as a world champion.

"For me the most important thing was to end the year with the hope of getting a new title and that's what I aspire to do. I have a huge motivation to get back in the ring to prove that I can go back to being a champion for the fifth time in my career," Cotto said.

"All I want is to be a world champion again. We're going to do it on December 1, and after that we will rest for a while and discuss what may be a new year full of positive things.

If everything goes as planned in December, one boxer who wants to fight Cotto is WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28KOs), who doesn't have a problem moving down to 154-pounds.

"Sergio Martinez is one of several possibilities before us. After Trout, we can discuss which [opportunity] is the most appropriate. If it's Sergio Martinez, I will surely have no problem facing him," Cotto said.

I'll believe it when I see it. For him to even entertain the idea publicly means he's on the way out and wants to get another big payday under his belt before he goes.

If he beats Trout, then his next fight may be against Maravilla or for another belt in the 154lb. division. It could be against Canelo, but chances are he will fight Floyd on May 5th.

If that happens, then Miguel will fight K9 first, then wait on the winner of Floyd-Canelo...
