They need to give the Zune some more time. IPOD had a big head start on the Zune. They cant expect it to catch up that fast. The thing I like about it is that you can transfer songs off a Zune to another computer.
 
My friend got one for graduation. I went to his house to check it out. That screen is to damn big. Its heavy as hell and not workable for the gym. I jog at the gym and I couldn't imagine having that heavy thing on my arm.
 
What's the best video/music player to get besides an IPOD or a Zune. I'm thinking about the Creative M or W, or one of the Archos players.

Go with the archos 604 wifi. Nice size touchscreen, and doubles as a DVR. Plays all formats. Movies, mp3's, pics, and an opera browser. Drag and drops files. Simple and BRILLIANT! Plus you can hook it up and watch your files on your TV.
 
Damn I just took a look at the Archos 604 wifi, that shit is killin the Ipod I might have to pick one up one of these days.
 
Who cares if they discontinue the Zune? If you using one right now, chances are it'll still work after (or if) they discontinue it. I still use an old discontinued MP3 player (still works years after the company went bankrupt) when I don't need my iPod.

There is no way anyone can think that the Zune would catch up to the iPod. The iPod was released in 2001. It didn't become all popular until 2004 (I know because I had one earlier than that and nobody knew what it was I was carrying and were amazed).

Oh, and you shouldn't be jogging with an iPod. Only the Nanos and Shuffles.

as far as mp3 players it's cool, a little pricey.

nice interface and plays mp3's not some proprietory format like ipod

i've played around with alo of mp3 players and the ipod is the best, there are other good ones like the creativ zen but the ipod is my favourite

I'm going to wait another year before I buy a product. Still indecisive about what I'm gonna go with.

Co-Sign. iPods can play MP3s as well as WAV. However the default is AAC. But if you rip your own shit there's no DRM and the same songs and videos play in either an iPod or a Zune.

Yeah, the iPod had a huge head start on the Zune, but the way everybody was talking about how great the Zune is, the bottom line is sales should be higher than what they currently are. The sales numbers are a disappointment by anybody's standards.

No. The larger capacity iPods (30GB, 80GB, etc) are hard drive based.
I think only the smaller ones (1GB, etc) are flash drives.

If you've got a Zune right now and enjoy it, that's great.
Enjoy it while it's still kinda new and while Microsoft still kind of gives a damn about it.
Just don't expect any new accessories and peripherals to come out for it down the line.

Sure it happens even when business is good. Compaq/HP had the same shit happen not too many years ago. I don't know if you've ever been in that level of business before but fireworks go on more times then you think. Don't get it twisted, I have not been in that level of a board room but I've been close to the action and some real hate goes on on the corporate level.

Same was said about the XBOX and how much of a PS2 killer it was supposed to be but time, money and the ability to adapt is in MS favor. But besides that, the only people talking about killing ipod was ipod fanboys. MS wants in that mp3 market and now they are. It'll be a matter of time before that product expands if MS is serious about the MP3 market.

As in what? It's got one of those auto adapters, stand alone chargers, the ability to playback into your tv and shit. Who's to say what else might be on the horizon?

I use a home stereo dock for my iPod which you can control through your TV through the menus on the screen?
Does the Zune have that yet?
I really don't even use the headphones unless I am traveling.
I pretty much use it as a home jukebox (that's able to hold 80GB)

Also what about technical support?
What's gonna happen if they slash their customer support department and your Zune breaks down in the future?
At least with an iPod, if it breaks down you can just take it to an Apple Store and they will replace it for free if they can't fix it.
 
No matter who leaves M$, the zune is still the shit, I love it. I dont care about competing with ipod, I just love my zune. I can listen to FM at the GYM, and I can send files to my friends and shit, and transferring the music and video to it is sooo fast.

It seems people want their mp3 players to do everything else BUT play music with high quality sound

They want a movie player, radio tuner, sound recorder, pda, and internet browser that just happens to also play music on the side :rolleyes: :lol:

What good is that feature of sending files to other people (with their permission first of course) if almost no one else even has one??
 
I'm the rebel of the board. The non Sheep. I have a Zune and its cool to me. Fuck an Ipod. I swear niggas on here are clones. Whats so great about the Ipod? It plays Shitty quality Mp3's just like the Zune so who gives a fuck. I just happened to want to try something new as I did with the PS3. Damn I blaze trails. Continue to be sheeple.

Well i need the recorder to record things, and a radio to listen to the radio. I don't see what your point it? I don't want the recorder to record music.

Archos/Creative:
Load MP3s.
Play Radio.
Voice record(I'm in journalism).
Record stuff from radio.
Record audio from television.

Buy FM radio add-on.
