Michelle was born on January 17, 1964, to Marian and Fraser Robinson on Chicago's South Side and graduated from Whitney M. Young Magnet High School in Chicago's West Loop. After high school Michelle went on to Princeton University where in 1985 she graduated with a B.A. in sociology and a minor in African American studies. After college, Michelle continued her education at Harvard Law School, where she earned her degree in 1988.

For three years after law school, Michelle worked as an associate in the area of marketing and intellectual property at Chicago law firm Sidley and Austin, where she met Barack Obama. She left the corporate law world in 1991 to pursue a career in public service, serving as an assistant to the mayor and then as the assistant commissioner of planning and development for the City of Chicago.

In 1993, she became the founding executive director of Public Allies - Chicago, a leadership training program that received AmeriCorps National Service funding and helped young adults develop skills for future careers in the public sector.
Michelle began her involvement with the University of Chicago in 1996.

As associate dean of student services, she developed the University's first community service program. Michelle also served as executive director of community and external affairs until 2005, when she was appointed vice president of community and external affairs at the University of Chicago Medical Center. She also managed the business diversity program.

Michelle has fostered the University of Chicago's relationship with the surrounding community and developed the diversity program, making them both integral parts of the Medical Center's mission.

Barack, Michelle and their two daughters Malia, 9, and Sasha, 6, live on the south side of Chicago, where they attend Trinity United Church of Christ.

^^I love this image and respect the Obama's very evident togetherness.

Props to you Femmenoire for dropping this great post on a truly wonderful and supportive sista.

NOT ONE SISTA BESIDES MYSELF POSTED IN THIS THREAD?

NOT EVEN ON THE MAIN BOARD?

Well I think that I finally get what black men are saying about sisters.
Where is the solidarity?

Are the women of SOL Hillary fans? Are you pushing for Hillary to become President? Even if you are, SAY SOMETHING! THIS IS OUR BOARD!

I think this is a sign to resign as moderator of SOL.

I am truly and thoroughly disgusted.

In fact, I will resign if I don't see my sistas representing in this thread.

Maybe you should of named it "Random Celeb" Naked.

Sorry tasteless joke

But seriously that woman has led a tremendous life. I love how she has done all of those things and didn't just become Barack's cheerleader. She went out and continued the fight on her own front. I always wonder if I will ever leave the classroom to reach others in a more broad aspect, mainly politically.

Great Post Femme

I'm sorry. I haven't been on in a few hours and I don't vote in your country so I am rather detatched from all of this except for the fact that one of my best friends went to school with Michelle and supports/works on the campaign. If I did vote in this country I would definitely vote for Obama. I don't know what else to say :dunno:

She's very accomplished - particularly in areas that matter from a human standpoint. Michelle and her husband are well-matched.

Thanks bigirl. You said enough and you don't even live in the states.

One can't complain about our representation in our government and not even attempt to participate.

And even if you choose not to, I don't see how one can't even have an opinion about the Obamas at this point.

The men on BGOL have chosen to discuss politics more than they discuss porn because of the level of excitement Obama is bringing during this presidential race. Even if he doesn't win, this is history in the making and we are a part of it.

I thought more sistas would want to be a part of it too but clearly all those articles about sistas not supporting Obama and sistas in general not supporting black men, must be true.

Well Femme, I can understand your reaction but please don't be too hard on sisters! Ur being too emotional for what is not really an issue.. I think the main point is that Hilary opposition is not Michelle but actually is BaracK; Props to Mich for her accomplishment but hey, we're not voting for spouses here (I hope not!). Now, of course any one on this board can only be in admiration to michelle, who is obviously a great black woman... But if the focus is politics, well... we shouldn't care less. My opinion.

All I know is Michelle would be the hottest First Lady since Jackie O.

(Yet another Kennedy correlation LOL)

I think Michelle Obama's story is great. I think she's a remarkable woman and scholar. I feel close to her story because she is from the same area that I am from in Chicago and that makes me proud. I think her support of her husband is amazing. And Obama definitely has my vote.

PLEASE don't resign...

Not saying that it won't be an uphill journey, but I'm sure that YOU can make it "to the mountaintop"...keep doing your thing..

Pretty much. This was a good read, and I love this pic of the two of them together; it speaks volumes to me. She's a great example of how a Black woman can be strong, keep the family together, and stand behind her man. To see them in the White House would be an amazing show of how our people can accomplish anything with perseverance and solidarity.

^^^Yes, my sistas are representing!!!

Thought it was a lost cost for a minute.

Well, I'm definitely all for seeing Barack Obama as our 44th president. I'm just all talked out about this between coworkers, classmates, and friends ("You're voting for Obama???? But.... Why??"). I'm tired of it.

^^^LMAO. Me too!

But props to bigril and chicutie.

And props to the men of BGOL!

Don’t get me wrong, I am not sold on Obama yet. He has yet to address the economic issues that I think are at the heart of today’s ills. Hillary would be my last choice and I may have to hold my nose if it came down to voting for her, or consider a third party candidate. I like the way the Obama’s relationship seems to work though, a real team.

Well,I appreciate and am very proud of her. I didn't know I had to make a post just to say that.

:dunno: You got me on that one. I assumed the majority of the females on here were at least pleased to see a black man try to rise in this shady government and do something positive for a change, regardless if they plan on voting for him or not.

Me too. I know that it's important issue but with something new about Barack vs Hilary being said everyday, things get kind of redundant.

Well this thread wasn't about Barack Obama who is what everyone is talking about.

This thread was to help debunk that awful stereotype about black women not supporting their men.

This thread was to showcase a woman who is intelligent, charismatic and successful in her own right.

I mean this is SOL. And while it is a porn board we don't always discuss porn.

Just thought some of the sistas here would have more to say on the matter. Clearly I was wrong.

^^^No need to resign Femmenoire over the lack of an overwhelming female response to your thread in SOL or BGOL.

The image of a black couple clearly in love is obviously jarring and unnatural to the senses for some so I guess the dearth of commentary isn't toooooo strange.

^^Some more pix to truly jar the senses of the jaded.

:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

A black family clearly in love with themselves and comfortable in expressing that love for all the world to see.

Michelle Obama is a truly wonderful sister, with a positive aurra and vibe which enhances everything around her and I'm really happy to see that the myth about the supposed "war" between black men and women is definitely a fairytale where these two wonderful people are concerned.

Beautiful!:yes::yes::yes:

Dunno, as mod you could just change the title to Let's Give Props to Michelle Obama if that is the reaction you are looking for.

Going off the views, looks like mad people checked the thread, said "oh wow, cool" and kept stepping, not knowing you were looking for a show of support? :dunno:

Just a misunderstanding most likely.

Simple commentary, like in any other thread, is all I was looking for...considering this is supposedly a board for women.

I'm glad I didn't post my Maxine Waters thread.

Why didn't you?? I just didn't feel like posting how I felt about her in this thread thats all, that doesn't mean I dont care about her or whats going on with Barack or that I don't support black men. Like someone else stated,it was becoming redundant to me thats all. I would love to see what you have about Maxine Waters but if I don't want to comment, it shouldn't be a problem. Thats all I am trying to say;)

I also would like to see your post on Maxine, Fem. We were just talking on the other side about how she's one of the few real Black politicians left who cares about us at least as much as herself.

Makes me feel good inside when I see images like this...

I feel ya Femme, but I guess you could've added something to the thread title, like "Does Michelle Obama finally deaden the stereotypes about black women and the lack of support of their men?" or "Michelle Obama, does she break the mold?" Something like that I guess...nonetheless, the info was on point. Thanks...

I never knew Michelle had all those accomplishments under her belt, but it doesn't surprise me. From what I've seen of Obama, he doesn't seem like someone who would accept less than the best in his wife. He found someone who compliments him, but at the same time still does her own thing. That's great!

But Femm.. I mean.... dang, threats to resign because people didn't respond? Isn't that a little harsh? What if we were busy or simple read it and spread the word elsewhere, like "Yes, today I found out that Michelle Obama..." just because people don't respond doesn't mean they don't take something away from what was posted...

I wish I had my senior high school yearbook. I went to W.Young, also...She must've been a freshman when I was a graduating, and I don't remember her. I think she'll make a great first lady!

Ya'll may kill me for this, but I think I will vote for Hillary.

Not because Obama couldn't be a good president but because I dred the thought of him being president now with our country being in the state it's in. I'm not dead set but I think I will vote for Hillary. I think it's a set up to now give us a true black contender for pres and the previous president has turned out world upside down:rolleyes:. It's no coincidence that there are no "real" contenders right now after Fuck Up Bush besides a woman and a black man. Doesn't that make any of you a lil skeptical. In a perfect world Hillary would win and in four years Obama would run again and win, but at that time hopefully his chances af setting a good precident would be greater.

Like I said I'm not dead set yet so please don't jump down my throat on this.:(

No one can be mad because your opinion differs from ours hun. I am just glad our people are voting

Which candidate DOESN'T have a cute, heartwarming "family pic" in his or her "photo opportunity/publicity" portfolio? Doesn't necessarily mean anything.

My Dear Sister Femme,

Thank you. For what you have posted is a true picture of Black people in love. Look at the expression on Obama's face. He is in love with his wife. Call me a sap, but that is how I want to look like, when I am in love with a Sister.

And yes Femme, Obama has my vote.

Love and Support,
INVICTUS3RD 4ever!
