I don't know if he's guilty or not, but the rush to judgement in this
case is incredible. Dude got Senators calling for CAPITAL PUNISHMENT
on the floor of the Senate (where a bill could get passed). Meanwhile,
we got dozens of PEOPLE dying everyday in Iraq and these bastards
don't utter a muttering word.
I do know that Vick got some plaining to do. I mean, come on man.
Use some common sense. How can you be a dog breeder and let
this type of shit happen on YOUR OWN property??
Of course, I'd like to see the brotha exonerated. If he's guilty, then
rake him over the coals publicly, but I don't think jail time is necessary

so far we've only seen the indictment, which is meant to cast defendants in the poorest light possible. so let's wait and see what the defense has to say.
i will say that i've made my mind up about the financing. it's generally pretty difficult to fuck up the money part of the case, because it always leaves a trail. you know the old saying: "follow the money".
in this case, you have michael vick purchasing vacant land. you have michael vick paying for the construction of a residence and other buildings on said vacant land. you have multiple witnesses who testified before the grand jury about michael vick paying off the losing wagers.
that connection is rock solid, IMO.
where the connection to the conspiracy becomes tenuous, is the connection where michael vick is alleged to have knowingly sponsored the dog fights at the property. also, i'm interested in hearing what the evidence is in alleging that michael vick advised or participated in the particularly gruesome and devious methods the animals were slaughtered.
aside from that, the first stone has been cast. michael vick is being demonized and villified in the press, and he deserves his opportunity to refute these allegations both publicly and in court.

guilty until proven innocent is just like saying think before you speak. it's nice to hear but who really does it. I haven't made an opinion until all the facts come out but to me it's so funny to see peoples' reaction to the whole thing. Nike put his sneaker release on hold, NFL tells him to stay away from camp and who knows what else has gone on.
Why are people so quick to annoint and even quicker to pull yo ass off the pedestal THEY put you on? I think they're all overpaid but then again I don't buy some fools' jersey, his shoes or tickets so I really could care less what they get paid. Bottom line is let the justice system do their thing and make a judgement from the fall out.

Vick co-defendants schedule plea hearings

Michael Vick's remaining two co-defendants in a federal dogfighting case today scheduled hearings to enter plea agreements.
Purnell Peace and Quanis Phillips will appear in federal court in Richmond on Thursday and Friday.
Another of Vick's original co-defendants, Tony Taylor, pleaded guilty July 30th to his role in a dogfighting conspiracy he says was financed almost entirely by the Atlanta Falcons quarterback.
As part of a plea agreement, Taylor pledged to fully cooperate with the government in its prosecution of Vick, Peace and Phillips. They were accused of running an interstate dogfighting enterprise known as "Bad Newz Kennels" on Vick's property in rural Surry County, Virginia.
Collins R. Spencer III, a spokesman for Vick's defense team, said the lawyers were surprised by the plea deals.
He said the pleas will not affect the way they proceed with the case when Vick's trial begins on November 26th.
He also said the lawyers assume that Peace and Phillips agreed to cooperate with the government in its prosecution of Vick.

All this being said, I believe that when this trial does begin, the prosecutors, still remembering the outrage over the harsh sentences of Martha Stewart and Lil' Kim', are going to tell the jury that if the two of them had to serve time for the comparatively innocuous crimes of lying and insider trading, then Michael Vick will also have to serve time for this crime, which is far worse by comparison. And, if he's found guilty, it'll work. I believe that the Feds are still embarrassed by these cases, and will seek to use Michael Vick as an example. Don't get me wrong, Martha Stewart and Lil' Kim did not deserve prison time, but this case, just like all others, should be judged on its own merits, not on the merits of other cases that the Feds felt they bungled. Michael Vick had better get himself a damned good attorney to have any hope of winning this and avoiding being the Feds' sacrificial lamb.
