Was watching a few minutes of a LAW&ORDER:SVU repeat episode a few days ago and the younger DA Stone was talking to Finn in his apartment and had on a dress shirt with no undershirt. I see white boys on tv do that all the time. Is that a white dude thing or a black thing? I never saw my Dad do it and I don't think I've ever worn a dress shirt with no undershirt underneath. Possibly once, but I'm not to fond of doing it. What's the consensus? Is that mostly a whiteboy thing or are me and my pops in the minority and most dudes do that?

Always undershirt
Wife beater

I wear undershirts even under t-shirts. I might be the wrong one to ask.

Carry on....

Always undershirt. These days they have very thin and light ones that you can wear under almost every shirt. Almost. I don't wear undershirts under linen. It just isn't done, old man.

I'm becoming a personal stylist. If you wear a shirt it should be a v neck. This is so it won't show or barley shows under the button up shirt. You can go without a shirt too. This is a style and a personal preference usually done when you have 2 or 3 buttons open on the shirt.

I wear an undershirt every single day. With dress shirts, polo shirts, casual shirts and tshirts. And always crew neck with sleeves. I never understood the wife beater because it doesn’t cover arm pits and one reason to wear undershirts is to protect your outer shirt from sweat and stains.

Depending on what you wear...

If I'm wearing a button down...

Or polos I prefer white crew necks only...

Just has a clean mature look..

Tank tops summer time and with short sleeve button down shirts..

Or by itself..

This is just a general rule..

Most of the time I ain't got time for none if that shit and just wear

What's clean and smells laundry fresh

Only purpose of an undershirt is to absorb sweat and it may have been practical when there was very little central air, access to washing machines and people didn't have as many clothes. Also it depends on the type of work you do. So if you are in uniform and you don't have many then it may necessary.
Even when I worked in an office I only would wear one just because I got cold easily and that was rare.

I wear sweat proof v neck T-shirt’s under all my shirts so I can wear the garment multiple times.

Ejis T-shirt’s are the best undershirts I’ve ever owned and worth every penny.

This is what I was going to say. I wear suits everyday and I'm inside with central air.

Also, dress shirts and suits are more form fitting. Wearing an undershirt messes up the fit, sleekness, and sharpness of the look.

V-neck white T..... with everything except for when I’m wearing a T shirt..... my big head will stretch out a crew neck.....

I always wear v neck undershirts under my dress shirts. The v neck keeps the undershirt from showing if you have the dress shirt unbuttoned.

The undershirt itself keeps you from sweating through the dress shirt.

Maybe it's because of wearing school uniforms as a kid but I've always worn a t-shirt under my main shirt, polo, etc.

Interesting. So the dress shirt over naked skin may be a whiteboy thing. I figure they do it in movies and tv so it expedities the clothes oming off for love scenes.

This is 100% what I was going to type, especially the part about not understanding why you would wear a wife beater.

Can't say that because in Coming to America white dude had on a wife beater when he called his wife and said he was never coming home.

I use to think this same thing, until I was in a meeting and the presenter didn't have on any t-shirt or beater. He just had on a white dress shirt and tie. When he was done two cackling chicks behind us were saying to each other "He needs a t-shirt or some band-aids or something to cover those nips, I am distracted by his damn nipples". Then the dude next to me chimes in "That's why I keep my beater on, not too hot, but I ain't out here giving a free show."

I get it now, but still rock a t-shirt instead of a beater as the beater ain't gonna absorb sweat where you need it most.
