MC Serch was born on May 6, 1967. His rise to fame began as a member of the group 3rd Bass, active in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

His influence extends beyond his role as a rapper, he's also worked as a producer for various musicians. Notably, in 1994, he served as the executive producer for Nas' debut album, "Illmatic".

Growing up in Far Rockaway, Queens, New York, he spent his formative years immersed in the streets. He attended Far Rockaway High School and later graduated from Music & Art High School.

After recording three albums with 3rd Bass, namely "The Cactus Album" (1989), "The Cactus Revisited" (1990), and "Derelicts of Dialect" (1991), MC Serch embarked on a solo career with "Return of the Product" in 1992 under the Def Jam label. The album produced two hit singles: "Here It Comes", which topped Billboard's Hot Rap Tracks chart, and "Back to the Grill" featuring Chubb Rock, Red Hot Lover Tone, and Nas.

His influence in the industry expanded beyond his own work. He played a pivotal role in cultivating the career of rapper O.C. after discovering him on the Organized Konfusion song "Fudge Pudge", ultimately helping him secure a record contract. Additionally, MC Serch mentored the newly formed Non Phixion in 1995.
Transitioning from performing, he established Serchlite Music, a promotions company. He also ventured into acting, appearing in Spike Lee's "Bamboozled" (2000) as a member of the fictitious Hip-Hop group Mau Maus.

MC Serch's radio career began in 2003 when he hosted "Serch In The AM" on Detroit's urban radio station FM 98 WJLB. However, his tenure ended in March 2006.
Continuing his presence in the media, he hosted the VH1 reality series "Ego Trip's The (White) Rapper Show", known for his catchphrase "Woop-WOOP!" The show concluded in March 2007, followed by a sequel, "Ego Trip's Miss Rap Supreme", in 2008. In recent years, MC Serch has returned to the radio airwaves in Detroit on the urban station Hot 102.7.

This isn't his whole story obviously, but I always suggest anyone who's a fan of the culture go read more for themselves
