Things are heating up in Las Vegas. WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has fired back at the recent allegations being made by Victor Ortiz. Last Saturday night in Las Vegas, Ortiz struck Mayweather with an intentional headbutt in the fourth round. He was penalized a point by referee Joe Cortez. To apologize, Ortiz came over to Mayweather and gave him a hug. As Ortiz pulled back from that hug, Mayweather blasted him with two punches and put him down for the count.

According to Ortiz, the referee never issued a verbal order to resume fighting, and because of that Ortiz was off-guard and had his hands by his side. He blasted Mayweather in several interviews, claiming Mayweather won with a "cheap shot" and he demanded a rematch.

Mayweather, pretty much silent since the controversial fight, finally opened up and let his verbal words go. He even promised to give Ortiz a rematch, if the boxer is able to beat Andre Berto in a rematch. Ortiz won a twelve round decision over Berto in April. Mayweather posted a photo of Ortiz attempting to get up in the controversial fouth round, and wrote - "I've fallen and I can't get up." He also took aim at Ortiz's promoter, Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya.

"I'll give Ortiz a rematch but first he got to get past Andre Berto. The only man who can beat me is the man in the mirror. Victoria Ortiz's new nickname is 'take two of these and call me in the morning.' Victoria Ortiz thought it was a head-butting contest. But that two-piece gave him some [incentive to] act right," Mayweather fired off.

"Does Victoria Ortiz want another rematch because he thinks he can win or does he want another payday? Ortiz's idol is Oscar De La Hoya aka Golden Girl....fishnet....black pantyhose [and Mayweather posted one of De La Hoya's infamous 2007 photos, where the boxer dressed up in women's clothing]."

:lol::lol::lol:

I'll give him that, Joe Cortez lost control over the situation, he was not even looking.

But "Protect yourself at all times".

Not true. Cortez was in complete control, or as much as a referee can be. He told them, "Let's go!" at least twice. He turned his head to tell the timekeeper "Time In." and saw the second, knockout punch. The only person who made a mistake in that fight was Victor Ortiz, no one else.

After watching the replay...this was not Cortez's fault,it was all on Ortiz.

After the headbutt,the kiss and the point being taken away....

Cortez clearly says 'let's go'...then he looks to the time-keeper,while Ortiz wants another kiss.

What part of let's go did Ortiz not understand??

Now his talk is all about getting another pay-day...fuck him,he had his shot.I hope Berto knocks his ass out...

watch the hb0 24/7 fight, Cortez started the fight, he did turn his head away for a few seconds but refs do that all the time in a boxing match

I went back and viewed the video and you are right, Cortez did send them to neutral corners and then said "let's go" as the fighters came to the center of the ring, as he looked away Ortiz got the 2 piece.

Oh well, let's see the rematch because the Pac Man fight ain't gonna happen no time soon.

Now that's he's lost to Mayweather, Ortiz can get that Pacquiao fight.

:dance::dance::dance:

now if Pacman would just take a few drug test we could see a real fight!!:cool:

Arum says he will, so all he has to do is beat Juan Manuel Marquez in November and we'll see.
This will also be a good barometer for how much he's improved as far as fighter a counterpuncher.

Precisely, anything else is bullshit that people are repeating cause thats what the cracka media is running with. Watch the fight closely. I got a good mind to think Ortiz really wanted out-its pretty daunting when you've given all you got and cant even land a shot on a dude.

Look, I'm not a boxer and I'm not trying to shit on Team Money's left, but after getting tapped once, as a boxer shouldn't you spring into defense?

I can't fault the media on this one. Serious boxing reporters and columnists are and have been coming to Mayweather's defense on this. There are just some people who want to find things about Mayweather to dislike and many of them don't really follow boxing except big event type fights.

You would think but Ortiz got popped with a stiff left and instead of defending himself, looked at the ref to save him. I don't subscribe to the "Ortiz quit" story, I think he was in with a master manipulator who was working him from the beginning and he cracked under the pressure.

I'm glad he said something about Oscar

I watched watching Oscar and his comments on 24/7 and :smh:

And yeah, dude doesn't think he can win, he wants to get paid.
