People stay putting down HBCUs but wanna imitate and simulate all damn day long. I seen my own peoples travel for miles from PWIs just to get a taste of the HBCU life, the style, the parties, the atmosphere.....there is nothing like it.

the blacker the college the sweeter the knowledge.

The experiences have such a wide range when going from a PWI to and HBCU.

I can understand why a person would or wouldn’t go to a HBCU. The culture is undeniable, however all HBCUs aren’t made equally. There are some that makes you regret even going there.

I had a great time at Winston Salem State, but I have also visited places like Elizabeth City University and Livingston College And was very happy I didn’t go there. Lol.

Yeah, as good as A&T have been in recent years, it’s still hard to sell against top rated PWIs that get national TV on a regular, especially in basketball.
The money is going to the schools and coaches. The players are only getting under the table money and not all of the players. Hell I got under the table money when I was on the yard. If you are good the league will find you. I could make an argument that you are more likely to be scouted if you are playing good ball at a HBCU then being mired in obscurity in a place like University of Missouri and its ilk.

A cat from my HS Football Team was gonna sign on with A&T because of their engineering program. Chuck Amati and NCSU came in a month before signing day and hooked his fam up with a new Toyota. Just like that he committed and eventually signed with State. He knew he was never gonna start but in his words, the benefits couldn’t be matched

My brother used to train with Daniel McCullers from the Steelers. After HS, A&T, SC St., Shaw and St Aug were the only schools on his trail because of his grades. His fam was poor so a coach convinced him to go to a JuCo instead of A&T. Said it was the only way to get to a better school to help his family. Nigga balled out and signed with Tennessee after JuCo ball. From what I was told his fam started doing s little better. New car, fixtures to the house, etc.

Let’s not even talk about hoops :smh:

Most ain't getting anything except a scholarship and out of the ones that are getting scholarship money, they ain't graduating.

FUCK a cac school.
Lol nah man. They’re getting cars, their parents are getting jobs, rent paid, home furnishings, cash payments
Not to mention the training and facilities are a million times better. Cats aren’t signing to PWIs just to be around CACs bro. There’s money...a lot of money behind it

A few players are, no where near the majority.

Yes siiiir! Well said! I will always treasure my HBCU experience. If I had to do it again, I would 100 times out of 100

THIS. Take a trip to Mississppi Valley State and you'll never say another bad word about WSSU. I dont know how my cousin went to Valley lol

I went to an HBCU and PWI. Black folks that went to PWIs stay shittin on HBCUs with the same talking points. More diversity, better education, etc. Mane that's some bullshit! So being the token negro = more diversity? And we all know all black folks aint created equally, going to an HBCU showed me that. Being one of 45 in a class is better education? All my professors knew my name and I could talk to them with no issues. Grass aint necessarily greener at PWIs and they have some of the same issues HBCUs do. I'd rather be around black folks all the time than white folks, but to each his/her own.

Yes the majority
I literally just told the story of a guy who was recruited to a PWI to be a depth player
He got a new whip and a mentorship at an engineering firm
Those whips are not theirs to keep. They are short term leases, mentorship? Fam I never heard of such a thing. However, I had work study that I never had to show up for. CAC schools exploit us, the NCAA is a multi-billion dollar business. Whatever trinkets they throw at us for our multi-billion dollar talent don't amount to shit.

Imma say this respectfully...
You keep talking out of your ass
That mentorship lead to the connections that landed him a job at Boston Dynamics.....
Homies little sister literally road that car till the wheels fall off
You're literally making shit up and talking like its the reality of the situation

I get it. You're a proud HBCU alum and you understand how CAC's have used the college sports landscape to tilt shit in their favor
But lets not be stupid here
These PWIs offer advantages that HBCUs can't, and that's on every level
From the facilities to the alumni network

The reason that shit never changes is because too many niggas fight for the status quo, on some pride shit. You'd rather us live in a hut built by us, than living in a loft made by them. I understand the logic, but in the end, we never get to upgrade our huts to mansions.
Until HBCUs can offer the same benefits as PWIs, things will remain the same. To act like HBCUs offer the same benefits as PWIs is an dishonest and stagnates progress

HBCU appropriation :smh:. Of ALL the white schools, that should NEVER be attended by Black star athletes, Mizzou, should be #1

Nothing that you said is respectful. It is clear that your head is far up cac ass. In your world the cycle will continue. The reason cacs can give us trinkets is because we supply them with all of the talent. Without us there isn't a multi-billion dollar business that they can reinvest in by giving us trinkets in return. It is like the old music studios giving us Cadillacs for our masters. At cac schools we are being exploited. They are getting 1000-fold from our talent than what is being giving to us in return. Cars and mentorships will not counteract the exploitation. Until they start paying us a fair wage for our likeness and the revenue we generate we will have to agree to disagree.

It is funny that you mention all of the advantages that cac schools offer but when I look around I have cac school graduates that work for me in spite of their so called advantages.

The life, glad I went to Clark Atlanta U, da AU center. Freaknic damaged for life, HBCU (Black College).

Definitely. There are some PWIs that are absolute shit as well. Going to either a low end HBCU or PWI was never going to be an option for me.

I would have went to a community college first until I got in where I wanted to go.

However, networking does matter and schools with larger endowments and contributing alumni have solid networks. Howard U versus St. Aug isn’t even comparable. But that also goes for Eastern Carolina U versus Chowan University. Lol.

But when it comes to athletics, that’s where is can get tricky as our best athletes almost always choose major PWIs simply because of money and exposure.

No HBCU will crack the top 64 in the NCAA torunment unless they win a play-in game. Then they’ll have to face a top ranked #1 seed. But throughout the year, they barely, if ever, get to play on TV.

Who is getting drafted from a HBCU as a lottery? Competition matters. Exposure matters to players trying get to the next level.

As far as education goes, I’m thankful for WSSU and A&T as they took me when in when I was denied everywhere else.

All universities have shortcomings. And it’s not always easy to pick which is best suited for you.

Because I came from a small white majority town, I would have fit in easier at a PWI. WSSU was a culture shock to me, but it was necessary part of my manhood.

Livingstone and Shaw were depressing to visit. Never been to ECSU. St. Aug was saved by all the bad chicks that went there.

I would completely agree with you if the draft numbers reflected what you said. Players are not being scouted nor drafted at the same rate as players from MAJOR white schools.

Of course, if you’re good enough, a scout will find you anywhere. But if they looking at a player averaging 30 points a game or over 100 yards per carry, they most certainly going to look at your competition and are you winning against that competition.

Mofos go to UNC (basketball) and automatically have league chances off gate. Kat go to Howard U doesn’t get the same look.

Everything, from education to athletics you have to be superior in to get a look when you go to an HBCU.

St. Aug is good as fuck. Jeez, that place...:smh:

And they are private, I’m not even sure what they are known for. That school must be more beneficial to the local kats. I knew a couple folks that went to play a sport there, but didn’t make it past the first year.

Just think about where ECSU is at and that tells you all you need to know. However, I’m not going to shit on them because they do have good programs that have helped some of my colleagues get ahead in life.

That school just isn’t for me when I visited it.

I’m betting it had more to do with lack of scholarships versus his grades and poverty. I only said that because you said he sign with Tennessee after JuCo.

When I was hooping at WSSU they only had 6 scholarships for the basketball team. Everyone else were walk-ons.

My coach explained to me this was tied to endowment and what the athletic department could afford because they have to disperse those scholarship monies to all sports. Football at most schools get the most scholarships since it’s the biggest program.

And WSSU was a state supported school, so it’s get even more difficult when they are private schools since the cost is damn near double/triple the amount of state supported schools.
