On May 15th there is a nationwide plan to boycott gas prices by not buying any gas for just 24 hours and if enough people boycott 3 billion dollars will be lost and hopefully cause gas prices to drop.

PS. I got this message via a text message so I can't confirm if it's real but I thought it was a noble concept.

Great drop    …Unfortunately I work for DHL and they are not going to stop getting gas but personally I’m for this

It will only have an impact if the overwhelming majority of the USA
participates. At least 75% of the people.

If you have numbers like 10-25%. Then that boycott is going to have
to be longer than just one day. Half of the people will just buy twice
as much petrol tomorrow

Make it a week for 10,000,000 people and they might start to listen

Man, this dumb-ass email gets sent around every year right before summer when gas prices start to go up. Not buying gas for one day will do absolutely nothing.

There was a time, before self-service, when gas stations weren't even open on Sundays
.

Co-Sign. One day aint gonna mean shit. Most people aint gonna do it anyway cuz you have to have gas. This aint like you tryin to boycott something we dont need to have. You need gas unless you are within a realistic walking distance of working. And the people that do it are just gonna gas up the 14th or 16th. This shit means nothin.

it might not work, but damn i like the effort. my wallet fucking groans when i fill up the tank

I'm way ahead of you, I don't have a car, so I'm good, if I have to walk to work, I'll do that as well, LOL

lmao, well there was a time back in the day when motherfuckers walked and found other ways to get around. not in this day and age. but yeh, as good as the thought is... its not going to happen for two reason.. 1) not enough people are going to do it and 2) it is going to have to eb a hell of a more economic efect than one day's worth of not pumping gas for those who control the petro industry, to even give a fuck

this was also posted on facebook.com, so its probably a real event. but i dont think too many people will follow it. i think thats a weekday, so I probably wont hit the gas station

Gas is 3.18 here on campus because everyone is about to move back hom for the summer.... it was just 2.98, but they raised it being smart. fucking gas people. These times make me glad that I don't have a SUV.

Unfortunately, this "boycott" isnt going to do anything.. Prices will still rise ~10 cents every other week until the end of the summer because people will pay it so they can take summer trips..

Why do people think boycotts don't work??

If you get enough people involved, and sustain it long enough,
it will damn sure do what you intend for it to do (whatever that
is). But you do have to give something up, in order to gain
something worthwhile.

The whole point to not buying gas would be to let the oil comp
know that you don't NEED their shit in order to live your daily
lives. As long as you have the attitude that you NEED their gas,
they have you where they want you....bent the fuck over waiting
to get fucked

All I'm saying is have the shit LONGER than one day. Either that
or TARGET A SPECIFIC GAS SUPPLIER (I say the most expensive)
and deliberately not buy from that particular one for a MONTH
(at least). Sends a message to the others to get their shit together

at least in theory. We should all know them bastards are full of
dirty tricks and won't go under easily

Anybody know where I can lease an electric car for a week?
(don''t tell me if it's the same oil company)
