Perhaps not wanting to be outshone by DC, Marvel is going back to basics with some its flagship characters starting today with “Fantastic Four: Season One.”
We had a story on the site about it yesterday, with some good quotes. Go ahead and read it. I’ll wait.

It’s a nice enough idea. It’s not a wholesale re-imaging, ala the DCnU, but it will freshen up the origins. What doesn’t seem clear is if these stories reset timelines at all, what with “Everybody in the ‘Season One’ books has a cell phone.” And Johnny Storm will be all over Twitter, which isn’t that old. So what does this say about how long the group has been operating in the Marvel Universe?
I feel for the continuity hawks.
Origin stories are retold all the time in comics, even before the DCnU, but this is one of the more well-organized retellings.
“Fantastic Four” is just the first in a couple waves of announced titles. “X-Men,” “Daredevil” and “Spider-Man” are scheduled for March, April and May, respectively. The second wave will be “Ant-Man,” “Hulk” and “Doctor Strange” in July, August and September. “Ant-Man” before Thor, Namor or the Avengers? Really? And no female characters (except Invisible Woman, of course)?
