Marvel has said a lot of things about the arrival of the X-Men and Fantastic Four to the MCU, but we think we may have finally been given an update to end all updates.

For a good few months, anyway.

Variety that things are looking "very, very good" indeed.

Related: X-Men and Fantastic Four aren't debuting in the MCU anytime soon, says Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige

Playback podcast, Feige revealed that he hasn't been given the official green light to start developing MCU stories for the likes of Deadpool, Professor X, and (everyone's favourite) The Thing, but that the ball is rolling.
However slowly that might be.

"We’ve been told it's looking very, very good and could happen in the first six months of next year," he explained. "The notion of the characters coming back is great."

Throwing in the ubiquitous caveat, Feige then added: "But in terms of actually thinking about it and actually planning things, we haven't started that yet."

The future of a unified MCU is definitely on the horizon, though, with the Marvel Studios boss going on to call the current setup between Marvel and Fox "unusual".

"It’s nice when a company that created all these characters can have access to all those characters," he said.

Feige isn't the only one stirring up excitement over the future of the MCU– Disney CEO Bob Iger recently all-but-confirmed that the Fox deal will bring titles and characters back under one banner.

"It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity," he explained. "There shouldn't be two Marvels."
