Martial Arts instructor vs MMA Street fighter... somebody gets the one hitter quiter

Joe Rogan had a great take on those martial artist.

In essence he said that if the martial art cannot help you defend yourself from people who know what they're doing then it's bullshit.

Watched all those podcasts, great insight on all of them. Loved the one on Aikido in particular.

"It works great if the other guy doesn't know what the fuck he's doing" @ 6:54

Instead of blocking his head with his arms or moving, he looked like he tried that magical movie shit(I'm going to catch the arm and do this and that).

All the karate in the world will not help you if you have never been punched REAL hard in the face before, a person that has never experienced this form of trauma body will naturally go into shock, not surprised at the outcome of this.

Traditional martial arts tend to really over block. The Karate guy was looking to block a jab and opened himself up to a big hook. Beginner boxers do it too but it's trained out. The trouble with martial arts in the civilised age is that it has become detached from the harsh feedback of reality. You can learn fighting techniques, but almost no-one doing so is actually having to use their skills in real life on a daily basis. There are endless tales of martial artists of high rank getting their asses handed to them when attacked in the streets, because they basically learnt a stylised form rather than anything still connected to actual fighting.

That's a big part of the problem: there's no way to test for "real" fighting effectiveness, because real fights put people in the hospital (or the morgue). In real fights, joints are dislocated, bones snapped, airways crushed, etc. So even the best martial arts schools have to teach their students to hold back a bit in their sparring matches, lest students be permanently crippled. Which poses a huge problem, because holding back becomes an unconscious habit which works against a trained martial artist who somehow winds up in a real fight. He'll unconsciously pull his punches and strikes; the streetfighter he's facing won't.

What I learned in college was that no one knows how to take a hit unless they've taken a shitload of them. I got in a couple of fights in college and won solely because I shook off a right hook and they couldn't. If you've never been in a real fight, your self defense is useless. Run.

he actually hit 2x - the straight right to the mouth was lighting quick

This 100%. I wrestled 3 years in high school. I will always have several plans for attack and defense.

Fucked up how they tried to get buddy to keep fighting. Mfkr clearly was concussed. Kimbo Slice is a backstabbing lowlife and Joe Rogan is a racist pussy.

Dude, what if you get kicked in the groin, gouge in eyes or punched in the throat? I don't think that you can just shake that off especially if it's being done to you repeatedly.
I understand the point that you were making but if a person doesn't know how to adequately block punches and kicks or slip and avoid being punched and kicked then they really can't protect themselves.

Look at Mayweather in his past fights as good example he very good at blocking punches and avoid being. True he does get hit but not that often.

WHEN I WAS IN THE MILITARY I WATCHED A BROTHER THAT THEY TRIED TO GIVE HIM A BLANKET PARTY. WHEN HE WALKED IN THE ROOM, THE LIGHTS WERE OUT. ONE DUDE JUMPED OUT TO GRAB HIM AND I COULD SEE IT CLEARLY FROM THE LIGHT IN THE HALLWAY. THE BROTHER SWUNG WITH A MOVE WHERE HE HIT HIM IN THE STOMACH, AND HIS HAND WENT STRAIGHT UP CAUGHT HIM UNDER THE CHIN, THEN PUNCHED HIM IN THE MOUTH. AND IT HAPPENED SO FAST THAT IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS JUST ONE PUNCH. TO HAVE FILMED IT AND SHOWED IT ON HERE WOULD MAKE IT LOOK AS THOUGH THAT DUDE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AN INSTRUCTOR.
PKA STOPPED GOING BY BELTS. THEY HAD A PKA MATCH WHERE A LOW RANK BELT BEAT A BLACK BELT.

BUT IN REALITY THE MARTIAL ARTS IS FOOL PROOF. YOU STRENGTHEN YOUR SELF AND PRACTICE MOVES UNTIL IT BECOMES A NATURAL RESPOND.

Dude didn't look like he had any skills, that stance and arm placement was looking real suspect. I think a real martial artist would have faired better than that. But everybody tough until they get punched it's what they do after that that tells the heart.
