Unfortunately his weight class didn't give him the notoriety he deserved he was def nice but just too light to be noticed by the casual fan outside of DC. It didn't help that HBO never showcased that weight (still don't) you have to catch it on espn or TNT when they had fights.

It was sad to see his last fight he was just a shell of what he once was

Yeah he kinda lost me letting Cotto off the hook but maybe
thats what he was supposed to do that night.

Corley's bitch ass lost me when he ran and complained about "low blows" after Cotto hit him with body shots, the slow mo replays clearly show that none were low, they just hurt. Bullshit stoppage in that fight though. Pernell was the best of his time imo. I hate when people compare that dude to Floyd, no comparison. I always love hearing Emmanuel Steward talk about Sweet Pea and Camacho gym wars, wish I could've witnessed that shit.

Johnson has to be one of the most underrated and overlooked fighters of all time. The guy was Roy Jonesque in his prime and could do it all in spectacular fashion. The guys around his weight class at that time did not want anything to do with him, Johnny Tapia, Danny Romero, and even Ricardo Lopez.

Carbajal robbed dude of that career defining fight.. Lopez barely wanted to fight at 108 so he was never close. Too sharp needed to be 10 lbs heavier and everyone would know his name.

he was a pussy... I went to the Dela Hoya fight at MSG and he was the one of the 1st niggaz at the Kit Kat Club for the after party after taking that ass whuppin.... Never to be seen again after that

He held his own for a while but just like Keith Holmes & William Joppy after they got them good paydays they were satisfied. B-Hop put the strap to both their asses in the tournament

Edit: Now that i think about it his best fight was against Oba Carr on tues night fights (he got robbed though)
