His job was in jeopardy last year.

I'm not even wasting my time reading the article but the bottom line is that Jackson's stubbornness is what is going to cost him.

The team will have to make the western conference finals or he might get fired.

GS aint that stupid.....they fire him and he'll be on the first plane smokin to NY to get Mike's chair.

Why do you say that, I'm not up on Golden State, all I know is they are winning for the first time in a long time :dunno:

In the last two weeks one assistant coach has been fired and another reassigned. Something's up with the staff or the coach?

Warriors coach Mark Jackson forces reassignment of assistant Brian Scalabrine

For two straight years, Warriors coach Mark Jackson has had issues with assistant coaches that he hired. In what's become an increasingly dysfunctional atmosphere, Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson has forced a reassignment of assistant coach Brian Scalabrine, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Ownership and management have been strong advocates of Scalabrine and his performance on the job, sources told Yahoo Sports. Nevertheless, Warriors officials decided that as long as Jackson is the head coach, he'll have control of his coaching staff.

Ownership and management have been strong advocates of Brian Scalabrine and his performance. It is immediately unclear what kind of a role to which the Warriors will transition Scalabrine, but management has no intention of letting him leave the organization, sources said.

Over the past two years, Jackson's difficulty with managing his coaching staff and creating a functional work environment has developed into one of the issues that threatens his future on the job, league sources said.

Scalabrine, who joined the staff in July, was Jackson's choice as an assistant coach. For two straight years, Jackson has had issues with assistant coaches that he hired. Michael Malone and Jackson would go weeks without speaking to each other a year ago, league sources said. Malone left Golden State to become the head coach of the Sacramento Kings.

Jackson, in his third year at the helm of the Warriors, has one year left on his contract, but has come under increased scrutiny within the organization for how he has run the team and worked on the job. There have been no conversations about an extension for Jackson – nor are they expected to take place, sources said.

Jackson, 48, had tried and failed to get involved with several head-coaching openings over the past year, including the Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets, league sources said.

Scalabrine, 36, had an 11-year NBA playing career. He had been offered a chance to join Tom Thibodeau's coaching staff with the Chicago Bulls after finishing his playing career there in 2012, but elected to try broadcast media for a year. He had come to Jackson's staff highly recommended by Thibodeau.

Golden State is 44-27 and the sixth seed in the Western Conference.

OAKLAND, Calif. -- For the second time in two weeks, the Golden State Warriors have parted ways with an assistant coach.

The Warriors fired assistant Darren Erman on Saturday for "a violation of company policy," general manager Bob Myers said. He said that "this is the type of decision that would be made across the board and irrespective of position within the organization.

For the second time in two weeks, the Warriors have sent an assistant coach packing, as Darren Erman was fired Saturday.
"Obviously, the timing is unfortunate, but we hold all of our employees, whether in basketball operations or other aspects of the business, accountable for their actions and to the same standard. We move forward and thank Darren for his contributions."

Erman is the second member of coach Mark Jackson's staff to be removed in the past two weeks. Jackson reassigned assistant Brian Scalabrine to the team's NBA Development League affiliate in Santa Cruz on March 25 because of what Jackson called a "difference in philosophies."

"He made a mistake," Jackson said of Erman, according to the Bay Area News Group. "He owns it. He's done a lot for me. He's done a lot for this organization, and I'm pulling for him to make a comeback. I'm pulling for him to move on and become a great coach, and I believe that can happen.

"It's just tough. I'm pulling for him. The right decision was made, and we move forward, but certainly I'm pulling for him to bounce back and get back on the road that he was on."

Erman was in his third season with the Warriors after spending four years with the Boston Celtics, where he worked under Doc Rivers. He also coached the Warriors' summer league championship team in Las Vegas last year and spent most of his time during the season reviewing video and studying opponents.

"This is not the norm," Jackson said. "That's OK because really in both decisions, the right decisions were made. You move forward. To me, I think it's a great time for us as a team and an organization. To still be standing, this isn't new. It's new to you guys. It's not new to us. So to still be standing, still winning and still in our right minds says a lot about this culture."

The Warriors (47-29) enter Sunday's home against Utah sixth in the Western Conference standings with six games to play. They are 1½ games behind fifth-place Portland and 1½ games ahead of seventh-place Dallas.

"A great pastor said, 'You cannot fix the foundation in the middle of a storm. It's too late then.' The foundation has been laid, and it's going to hold up," Jackson said.

SAS was saying that Jerry West is not to happy with Jackson's coaching style. Doesn't like the free wheeling he lets Curry & Co get away with. Its fun, but in the end, they won't win playing that way...

in the last 20 years, GS has 5 winning seasons which will include 2 playoff runs by jackson

they advanced to the 2nd round last year for the first time in 20 years

they'd be fools to let him go

but he's black...so you already know

The team just went to the 2nd round under Don Nelson in 2007 when they upset the Dallas Mavericks.

They'd be smart to let him go because he is holding the team back.

Other coaches have done more with less. See Coach Brown, Coach Hollins, Coach Kidd (after this season).

With that roster they should be a little better than they are

I know they have been banged up but take a step back and look at that team

They should be contending for real

Somebody has to take the fall

So I get it

That's funny because Coach Jackson's style is nothing like Mike D'Antoni. When has D'Antoni ever had a team that can lock you up on D? When has he ever played TWO post players like David Lee and Andrew Bogut major minutes?

It's obvious most of the people in the thread have never seen the team play but want to comment.

As far as the thread title, Coach Jackson is a player's coach but he doesn't have the planning and preparation skills to be a great head coach yet.

He also is stubborn and not willing to listen to his assistants (the ones he hired), who were a main reason for the success last year.

That being said, he'll be fine as long as they win but if they don't make it to the WCF, I predict that he won't be retained.

And how does that help the knicks?

Mark can't do anything for that Knicks roster. How would he get a handle on JR Smith? Who is the point guard gonna be next season? He's rather go back to broadcasting with Van Gundy than coach the Knicks.

GS's new owner just wants to pick his own coach so he's looking for reasons to let Mark go. Mark has instilled a nice work ethic into his team and it would be wise to stick with him and let him and the team develop. They have a young core to work with their window isn't closing just yet.

the warriors are not a western conference finals caliber team . . . they will have problems with Houston, Spurs, Thunder and Clippers . . . with the warriors roster they cannot beat any of those teams and I fail to see who they could hire to replace jackson . . . love Steph Curry to death but he's not a top tier player that you can ride deep into the playoffs . . .

their system is an issue.....its feast or famine

just like houston

I want to see if they are going to can jackson and hire george karl....the league loves to recycle coaches

You do know that Mark Jackson was Joe Lacob's (the new owner) handpicked coach?

:smh: at this thread.

Lionell Hollins should have a head coaching job

Let Karl stay where he at

how is the system the issue?

someone please explain that to me

if GS plays any other way theyre getting destroyed

jackson has to play to his strengths

My bad. The way the owner is acting, it's like he doesn't feel any allegiance to Mark as his coach.

This makes even less sense to me now. He knew he was getting a 1st time head coach, did he think it was going to be an instant perfect fit? Mark's turned the culture around on that team. They need to let the man develop.

Doc Rivers wasn't a super coach when he started out in Orlando. He got better over time.

WRONG and Mark aint going nowhere. Period!!!!!!!

With Bogut and Lee manning the paint they weren't scaring any of the big boys anyway
But if they fire Ack, he is CLEARLY being made into the fall guy. Three years as a HC and he's turned his FUCKED up squad into playoff calibre
Regardless of how far they go, he's doing a good job. They're not lottery bound anymore like when Don Nelson was coaching them

They are crazy to even consider letting him go. any team out of the playoffs better have him on the phone, with a few draft picks to trade. GS and all the new analytics people are raving mad
